Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

showing $300 back for both the 3a and 5a
the 3a seems like a no-brainer
the 5a seems close but for $150 why not. plus the 5a heats up like crazy when videoing 4k
or maybe I should hold on to my 5a in hopes of a similar deal when the 7a comes out?

3a XL security support ended this year. My son currently uses my old 3a XL. Factoring in the free pixel buds, this is a great deal with the $300 trade in allowance.
Also, I'm typing this on my Pixel 6 (now the second Pixel I've owned). Other than the terrible fingerprint reader, I love it. I use pattern unlock as a workaround for the fingerprint reader.

so i could buy a 3a off swappa for like $85ish and trade it in for $300, not a bad deal, esp with the free headphones.
People are buying up all the 3a on Ebay. I was watching about 7 listing between $60 and $70 range that went out of stock in last few hours.

Upgraded my Google One plan but it's not showing 10% cashback anywhere during checkout. It's been 1 hr, am I doing anything wrong? Please help me
Upgraded from the 100GB plan or from the free plan? If you had the paid 100GB plan you're in the same boat as me. Google support is useless on the issue. I'm fairly certain I need to wait for my current billing cycle of the 100GB plan to end before the 10% promo works. Despite my account showing I have the 2TB plan my billing shows it as the 100GB plan.

Two years ago, I traded in a Pixel 2 XL for the 4a 5G when the new phone cost $499 and Google gave me $235 for my old one.

Now they will sell me a new 6a plus throw in Pixel buds for $448, and they'll give me $300 for the old phone. This is an outstanding deal.

I would be all over this if I were not waiting for the Pixel 7 Pro.
I almost did the samething w/ 1 exception.
I sold the 4a 5g after needing to send it in for a bad flash (my fault - bad custom rom flash.) I sold it after they kept sending me refurb units w/ major issues as replacements. After insisting that they send me a new one back I already had a new daily driver so sold that & bought a pixel 3a from ebay for $42(as a back up & the mess around w/ customs.) That transaction didn't seem so hot back then cause I wanted a fast & painless sale on that NIB 4a5g on swappa so had priced it about $100 less than then next new one. I think that thing sold after like 2 views.
This trade makes it a lot better. I don't care to do the math but it's definitely a net positive.

& oh yeah. I picked up my 2XL used on Amazon(from an SDD post) for ~$145 just to mess around with. LOL

The 3a is getting a $300 trade-in because they try to encourage 3 year upgrade cycles. Also, the 3a gets unlimited pictures in storage saver so they also have incentive to get people off of that.

The 5a will most likely see high trade-in when the 8a comes out. Hard to predict perfectly though.

Definitely not buying another Pixel phone. Last one I bought brand new under a year ago and always dropped calls. Google refuses to warranty it for unknown reason just tells me "specialist team says it's not under warranty."

To be fair, thats what I am thinking. Get a 6A for 150$ (50$ if you consider the buds cost) and then trade in 6A next year for 7A for like 150 ish again. 😂
Could be the move haha! At least we have 'til the 27th to decide. Reviews look good overall. I think I will most likely pass because I take thousands of pictures of my dog and don't want to have to pay for storage or move out of Google Photos. I like having the headphone jack and rear fingerprint scanner too. Also I'm currently in a state where I'd have to pay $30 sales tax. I honestly am optimistic they'll offer like $250+ for the 4A 5G when the 7A comes out 😂

For trading in an old Iphone 7 , it doesn't provide any other options than 256GB. My phone is not 256GB, does it mean they will reject the trade in if I send it? or worth a try? (trade=in value is $300) Thanks!

yeup as soon as i went back to swappa to those $80 listings they were gone! actually canceled my google store order, and redid it with a $295 refund for not working screen, and bought a 3a off ebay with burn in.

Wow. I had $44 credit (basically made up for tax) and will get $295 for my husband's cracked pixel 3a. Plus got $44 more credit. I've been looking for a way to upgrade his phone (the crack drives me bonkers, though he's been ok with it) cheaply, and this is IT!

Though, boo, now he has a better phone than me (5a) again.

$250 for iPhone 8 with broken screen that still powers up. Sounds like they will change their mind on receipt
