Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

For what it's worth, my pixel 6 does not have any fingerprint unlock issues (with a screen protector purchased off Amazon). I haven't seen any network issues either. Mine is the more expensive Verizon version. I've had it since November 2021.

FWIW, another 6 owner here. I don't have any of these issues. The fingerprint was iffy at first, but I followed the recommendation to register the same finger twice and it improved greatly and got even better with time.

my credit card company canceled the transaction since I didn't respond fast enough to their fraud protection query. Order looks good at google store and I dont want it canceled. Will google store re-run the transaction on their own? or call them and risk having them charge me twice ?
sucker's from chase? how do you they cancelled? i had same thing happen, when i responded. i had 5 transactions. first one cancelled for google store credit and next 2 cancelled to check off the box to not accept lower value. now have 2 orders active.

All of you saying what you got for your trade in... You haven't actually got anything yet. You've been given a quote, and they don't have to stick to it. You paid in advance. Do you all really believe they would give you $300 for a 3a? Not happening. Good luck on your returns/chargebacks.
I've never had Google not honor a trade in value across a half dozen phones

"Phone Condition
What you tell us about your phone helps us estimate its trade-in value. Upon inspection, we'll let you know its actual value (which could be higher or lower)."

What if the back is scratched or frame has dents. Seems like you get nothing but troubles from the trade in

What is everyone's experience with trading in? they are offering up to $300 and my 3a is estimated at $300. almost a no brainer but concern they will low ball your trade in after it is sent in

Has anyone ever had any success with getting an extra line charged waived with T-Mobile? I've got 4 lines with them and would really prefer to use their free-after-billing-credits offer...but I don't need/want an extra line at $10 a month.
new lines can be cancelled after a year. old lines should hv been cancelled 90 days prior. for 10 a month it will be like 120 for phone. still good deal.

Had 2 6 pros since they came out and never had a finger print issue on either unless the screen saver was oily. The data thing happened to us when one update happened. The only problem we have had is with the latest update messing up Bluetooth for certain headphones without changing developer settings.

Anyone's Pixel 4a 5G having problems with some apps/games while on Wifi? I use a few apps that have problems ranging from being completely unusable to getting long timeouts to short delays.

When I switch to data the problems all go away. Two of the apps are Jack in the Box (pretty much unusable) to the game Artery Gear (periodic timeouts). McDonalds every once in awhile lags while loading offers or location.

But for those 3 apps, I'll use 10 others on Wifi that have no problems. Haven't really tested it too much to see if it's a Google thing, just my phone thing, or my Wifi.

I wonder if the $300 trade-in is a typo for $30 for the 3a.

It is a head scratcher.

I find absolutely no reasoning behind the TIVs for cracked-screens - the more recent models get less.

Pixel 3a
Good: $300
Cracked screen: $295 -> Sweet spot IMO, for a cracked-screen Pixel 3a

Pixel 3 XL
Good: $300
Cracked screen: $292.50 (lesser than 3a)

Pixel 4
Good: $300
Cracked screen: $265

Pixel 4 XL
Good: $300
Cracked screen: $257.50

Pixel 4a 5G (1.5 generations newer)
Good: $300
Cracked screen: $260 (lesser than 3a or 3a XL)

Pixel 5
Good: $300
Cracked screen: $225 (Least of all Pixel 3 and above)

Pixel 5a
Good: $300
Cracked screen: $230

Also, I wish Google did trade-ins like Samsung does - discount the trade-in value instantly and opt to charge it if the TIV differs or trade-in device is not sent. Rather Google charges for full price and the tax for the full price, which I think would not reflect in the refund - this itself would amount to about $30 lost depending on the state and is a significant amount.

Eg.
Pixel 6a: $449
Tax for Pixel 6a: $46
Total: $495 (Paid today)
Refund for Trade-in: $300
Effective price: $195

If the discount was applied upfront, the tax would be $15 instead of $ 46, a savings of $31.
Effective price would have been $149 + $15 = $164 instead.

Looking to transfer to Google Fi along with this deal - how do I know if my current AT&T numbers are "locked" or not? I see it mentioned here: https://support.google.com/fi/ans...ansfer-out

Anything to know about the transfer process?

[edit] Pulled the trigger...I got the unlocked ones. Will it still be easy to transfer my current 4a's from AT&T to Google Fi?
