Was gonna post as well. Looks like the sale extends to most of the Spectre models as I picked up the model with upgraded i7, 1TB SSD and OLED screen with same discount for $1550 (Model:16-f1023dx SKU:6501269 [bestbuy.com]). I actually took a chance and ordered their open box in "excellent" condition for approximately $1200. This on a $2000+ laptop when you configure at HP.com. Figure it will be perfect for our college-bound kid.

This is a beautiful looking laptop. The thing is - it's a 16", 4.5lb laptop with integrated graphics (and Intel integrated graphics at that). It's just...why? Now, there is a small audience for this. Someone who specifically wants a big screen and does no work that requires graphics power (including and especially gaming; the comment about this for a college kid - what college kid is going to want a 16" laptop with intel xe graphics?) probably will like this device. But still, it's four and a half pounds. It's just too bulky and heavy to not have a graphics card. Especially at this price, you need at least a 3050ti or something in there....

It's confusing on the BB spec screen, but according to an HP commenter on the Q&A section as well as HP.com description on their website [hp.com], this model is OLED. I should be receiving it on Tuesday so I can post an update on the actual screen.

Perhaps the audience is small, but my kid games on an XBox with no use for mouse/keyboard; and having a laptop that can double for note-taking with OneNote and pen when folded over is quite useful. 4.5 lb may be relatively heavy, but without any other textbooks in modern college courses given digital textbooks, the weight is easily manageable. I took a chance on the open box $1200 offer for the extra savings. Again, depends on your situation.

The deal is over for now, but I received my laptop yesterday and it indeed is a OLED screen, just for future reference.
