How much stronger is the new gen? If not much then most of us don't care to pay double for roughly the same tool, esp for occasional DIY home use.

the 2.0 batteries are ridiculously expensive. but they are incredibly useful - a lot of times you don't need a big honking battery to carry around. for things like impact drivers or drills unless you are a contractor you are most likely not going to be drilling a thousand holes.

they are also way safer to carry up ladders hanging on your belt.

Great deal, but beware: the XDT15 is a gateway drug. It was my first LXT tool after working alongside a professional carpenter who let me borrow his. I bought two of my own and now have more LXT stuff than I care to think about, from impact drivers and drills to chainsaws and string trimmers. This is a terrific deal for someone just starting out or who is in the LXT ecosystem but doesn't have an impact driver already and could use another (essentially free) battery.

I love Makita but I'm starting to think the mods have no idea of what is front page tool worthy.

These were $80 new at HD for a long time before they clearanced them out. Why were they clearanced out? To make room for the second generation sub-compact tools which have been out almost a year now.

I wouldn't pay this price for used/refurbished when the two tool (impact/drill driver) gen2 kits go around $150-$160 when on sale. Yes, gen2 is bundled with 1.5ah (non fuel guage batteries) and the dc18sd (slow charger) but again new is new.

I agree especially given potential Black Friday sales.
