Absolutely. Although the SSD is annoyingly small to my taste. I would rather have 512GB. But with the included 1TB hard drive, it may not be a deal breaker.

Not unless you can upgrade the PSU as well. And to do that, you need to upgrade the MB as the MB uses a proprietary power connector instead of the standard ATX 24 pin connector. There are some creative solutions but it just stops being worth it. A basic RTX 3060 comes with at least 500w as the recommendation.

-- Side note - no personal experience with the Pavillion or the 3060 - just sharing what I've read in numerous places --

Cannot recommend this if you are buying it expecting full performance from the cpu.
Oems are really throttling 12th gen chips everywhere I look.
Expect much slower/shorter boost than this cpu is capable of.

I would wait for a deal on a config with a better graphics card then. You just missed a deal on a better overall config with an RTX 3060 for $950. Was definitely worth the $250 premium for both the graphics and the SSD upgrade.

I'm a noob here, but how is this a better deal for gaming other than the graphics card. It's basically the opposite for the processor. Inferior processor and smaller RAM for better graphics card.

The gpu is gonna be doing 98% of the work, the cpu just has to keep up. Modern cpu's are more than capable.
You'll see very little difference in cpu's for most tasks between 3600x and 12700, most things will happen instantly, and load time differences will be maybe a couple seconds. Meanwhile the 1660ti will give you way more fps in games, which is what the whole thing's for right?

For the ram, that's a 20-30$ stick of ram to fix that, and 16gb is all you'll need.
