I'm seeing a $20.98 starting price for the liquigels with 25% off and a S&S discount. Is it dead or am I doing something wrong?

Generally use Costco generic, but getting some of these to put in my truck for when I have to drive home hungover the next morning.

I always buy generic as much as possible. Other than the method of delivery, the active ingredient is the same. Nevertheless this will kill your kidneys if you use it chronically so be careful. Search for 'analgesic nephropathy'.

Why do people even buy the name brand when the generic one is identical?

Yeah the liqui-gels are $19.93 for me. The $15.41 is the coated tablets but on the image its showing as a bottle of liqui-gels, make sure that you look at the options and the description. You might be ordering the coated tablets and expecting the liqui-gels.

Probably a combination of marketing and the placebo/nocebo effect. It does help to believe something will work, so technically, these may work better, even though they're the same.

Yeah I've tried telling him he needs to slow down on them because it can't be good for his liver / kidneys but he doesn't listen lol I take Advil / Tylenol maybe 2 or 3 times per week. In 2019 I herniated my spine and ever since then I've had terrible lower back pain. Advil helps kick the edge off the pain. Some days I will just endure the pain because I don't want to be taking the stuff too often.

Yeah I feel like OTC meds are better than being addicted to prescription opioids. He really needs to lose weight to take the pressure off his knees. He may not even need pain meds as much if he did that. I need to lose weight myself but not as much as him lol
Pharmacist here. Just wanted to add that the way you're taking it, to include your friend, are completely fine by statistical measures. Keep in mind that these measures are adjusted for mean age, weight, and dose limitations when considering adverse events or side-effects of drugs. The maximum daily dose, which is conservative in that it can be applied to a majority of the population, is 3,200 mg or 3.2 grams per day. Your buddy taking 10 per day, assuming they aren't all at once, is completely normal and clinical dosing is closer to 40mg/kg. If he was 375 lbs, his max would be almost 7,000mg per day.

Staying under the max dose puts the consumer at a lower risk of side effect and possible organ damage, but that doesn't mean there aren't outliers or people who already have kidney damage, have stomach ulcers, or other reasons why they shouldn't use certain NSAIDs. It's definitely smart to avoid opioid use as much as possible, but they do have their place in therapy as long as use is appropriate.

You definitely don't have to suffer based on concerns of overuse, as I'd rather see you hold on to your quality of life as opposed to dealing with painful knees each day. Unless you have health concerns that don't warrant ibuprofen use, there's nothing wrong with taking 400mg at a time a few times per day.
