This is a buy never kind of deal. Nintendo has still not addressed the joycon drift issue. Once it happens to your system (and it will happen eventually) this system is worthless. Need to replace the whole thing.
Okay? How does this help out other people with the deal
It is repairable but it is harder than replacing one in a joycon. It's not that difficult with a video. There's a bunch of videos on YouTube that can walk you through it. You can clean them with bw-100 first to see if that fixes the drift.

Great deal! I would hop on this had I not gotten a Prime Day Warehouse deal (condition was like new) for $138…a little more for a brand new untouched

is it easy as just as signing up to your Nintendo account and continue using your digital games on the Lite from a original Switch. Or is it more complicated?

Depends on the game and also if you have nintendo online membership. Some games support cloud saves through Nintendo online, as long as you subscribe to it. But some games don't support this, like most pokemon games. It's not too bad to port the save data. Just need to hit transfer data on both devices and hold them close. It's just a nuisance to do that often if you are switching a lot.

I have an OLED Switch and I still kind of want to jump in this deal. The size difference is noticeable in the hands and these feel really well-built. Shame you have to put a mod chip in these to have any real fun with them.

Can you still even get a chip for them?

Wow, have they ever gone this low before? Super tempted, but also have an OLED so it's a bit hard to justify it.

I'm away from home and traveling so I wont have my original switch. Can I just use my old account and be good to go if I do buy a Lite? or does my old console have to present?

Decent price for new. I didn't personally end up docking my switch very much, so I could have gone with a lite myself.

GameStop has (refurb?) switch lites for around this price. Don't think they come with any accessories. Might also get lucky on fb marketplace with some extras...

I passed on a switch lite that was somewhere between $100 and $120 here in Asia because it was being sold at a bazaar, and I had no assurances that it wasn't banned from eshop (like for modding the switch) or stolen. I guess Nintendo can lock a switch or something if it is stolen. Eshop/console bans aren't great because you can't play online at all. I had tried hotspotting to the switch with like 3-4 different phones, and we couldn't get it to connect to the internet.. So I just didn't take my chances. I still wonder if I should have bought it though. Tl;dr - less to worry about if it is new

Edit: honestly, I don't know how people play any switch without a pro controller or knockoff version of a pro controller (like Bitdo sn pro 2 or whatever it is called)... So I would still advise people just get one of those to use with this. So, the thing about joycons is definitely a bummer and bad design, but for me it's a non issue because I always use a controller. Up to you and your preferences, I guess.

About the pro controller knockoffs - I don't have definite info yet if any of these have true working NFC and true wake on sleep functionality.

If you are not connected online, and your lite is a secondary switch, your digital games may not work. But you can easily fix this by assigning your lite to be the primary switch.
