It's typical scare tactics... just means you will lose access after your subscription expires. You can safely turn off recurring billing at any time.

Bought the codes through eneba, which by the way, allows you to buy them all in one transaction so your credit card provider's fraud alert doesn't get triggered by the repeat activity.

I went ahead and bought 9 of the 3-month codes for around $6 each (listed at $5-ish each plus service fee, plus I paid a few cents more than the absolute lowest available price to go with a high volume/highly rated seller).

Make sure that when you're redeeming the very last code at Microsoft that you turn off the free-month offer button, since that would push you over the 36-month mark.

After converting to Ultimate for $14.99 (my sub had expired on July 4th and didn't want to start a new one just to save the $14) ... I immediately turned off recurring billing again with no issues.

All in all, I got 36 months for $68.xx bucks, and also used Discover through Paypal which should get me another 5% back. Sliiick!

Bought the codes through eneba, which by the way, allows you to buy them all in one transaction so your credit card provider's fraud alert doesn't get triggered by the repeat activity.

I went ahead and bought 9 of the 3-month codes for around $6 each (listed at $5-ish each plus service fee, plus I paid a few cents more than the absolute lowest available price to go with a high volume/highly rated seller).

This seemed too good to pass up--and I don't even own a console! I ran out to grab a Series S and hooked it up to an 8TB drive. Been sucking down games off of fiber for like 22 hours straight and filling up the drive. The included EA Play with Ultimate was the kicker--now I've got Madden 22 with the Ultimate Legends bundle from Prime Gaming ready to go.

Worked without a hitch, I used a virtual credit card number just in case any shady stuff was going on but got and entered codes without issue, thanks for the tip regarding going through the link, saved me a lot of time not having to go back and forth turning off recurring billing each time and worked perfectly. FYI codes on Eneba are only $4.99 now for 3-month, even cheaper! Got the codes within minutes and you don't have to buy them one at a time. Also like how Eneba lines all the codes up for you to copy and paste super easy. Rep to OP and also to the guy who gave the tip on going through SD link to avoid having to turn recurring billing off each time. Great deal!
