I still think this is gonna go below$500 in a month or so. I could be totally wrong though

Thank you for that wonderful insight. My prediction is that the price of GPUs could go lower, or higher or stay the same.

Jokes aside, but prices are likely to keep dropping. But vendors can't drop them too fast or too much below MSRP or they will lose money on each card. My real prediction is that we will slowly see discounts until 4XXX arrival. It's not the hottest of takes but it's the most likely outcome.

Of course all of this goes out the window if mining makes a come back but I doubt we will see a return this quickly.

Had an older HD6950 powercolor, 5 of them to be exact, back when mining was still cool like 8 years ago. Been using that card until last year, it still works. From what I've read it goes Sapphire/Powercolor/ASUS>Everything else when it comes to AMD cards.

Any thoughts on this brand, PowerColor? I have got the impression that they're not reliable, but this is based on a long while back.

😂
Agreed, I do also think it'll be a gradual reduction in price until the new Gen of cards come out. I'm wondering if I should wait for a 7700(xt) or grab a 6800 when it becomes less than $450.

I would wait. Availability of the 4xxx cards might be more clear as we get closer to launch and you can make a decision then.

Wait until next year? Lol that's stupid. Just so you can get 20% better performance. Hilarious 😂
The only that's hilarious is you thinking performance will only be up 20% across same model lineups.

This comment will age like milk.

Full disclosure, I have never owned a PowerColor GPU but seen a lot of comments on them elsewhere (Reddit, etc.)
Their customer support is supposed to be pretty good. When people have complaints or questions on Reddit, at least, someone who works there usually chimes in to give tips and/or let people know they can reach out for support. Other people who aren't employees have vouched for them, as well.

The usual complaints they get are that their fans are not tuned well. They tend to overshoot in RPM as the temperature increases, then back off too fast and go too slow to maintain a good temperature, and finally they will slowly ramp back up to the right RPM. There are some GamersNexus videos on other PowerColor cards you can watch to see that, and they point out that's a common issue with PowerColor cards. It won't have much effect on the health of the card in the long run, but it's the quick changes in fan noise that can be jarring when you are trying to play a game.

They kinda have to keep dropping prices so long as they have inventory and they aren't selling. It costs money to have the cards on hand. Miners gonna start dumping their cards too and that's not gonna help them either.

Supposedly it's slightly faster than a 3070ti.

6800 is the sweet spot in terms of RDNA 2 cards imo. I downgraded from a 6900xt and didnt lose much performance but man the power usage went down a lot and the temps went down 20degree C at load. Oh and it still has 128mb infinity cache like the 6900xt.

PowerColor is a solid brand. Do some googling on this specific model for best relevance.

Yep power color is one of the better brands actually

Currently have a 6900xt and 6800xt red version

I'd say 6800xt is sweet spot personally
