Walmart.com has Schwinn Axum Large frame (19") mountain bike in black and blue for $348.
That's a $100 savings from the regular price.
Shipping is free
This one one of the best value entry level hardtails. The components are less than ideal but the frame is upgradable. You can ride it as is, and upgrade the components in the future. Check out various reviews on youtube on this bike.
The only downside of this deal is that the frame is only in large size, good for someone around 6 foot tall.
If you are around 6' tall and want to try mountain biking and don't want to spend too much money on it, this is the bike you might consider.
Some of the features:
- 29" 2.6 wheels
- tapered head tube
- 1 by 8 drivetrain (cassette)
- mechanical disk brakes
- internal cable routing for the seat dropper post

This Brilliant Cooper is $429.99 which seems like a good deal.
Yes steel frame, but the bike is not that heavy at 27 lbs. Belt drive and Shimano internal gear hub is a big plus (low maintenance) for a casual rider.
I ordered a 20" bike for my kid from them and quite happy with the quality/purchase.
Earlier we got it for $125-135, currently still available for $180.
Shimano 1x7 gears. Front suspension with 100mm travel, etc

Imo, the axum is a better bike in terms of upgrade options
- Tapered fork vs straight on the Framed
- Cassette vs freewheel on the Framed
- Framed is not 1x drivetrain
- Yes the fork is a brand name, but no lockout, whereas the Axum's is in-house fork, but it has a lockout that actually works.
Don't get me wrong, the framed bike might be a good option for some. But I still prefer the Axum, even thought it's 2x the price of the framed.

Oops just noticed the post above. But basically there is no other mountain bike that can match the Axum for less than $700-800. Sure others might have named brand forks but you can upgrade this thing to match a $1800-2000 Trek Roscoe with a fork and brake upgrade. I installed a Manitou markhour boost fork, Advent X clutch derailleur and DHF/DHR front and rear tires and it's already bike park ready.

I bought one and
1) The rear wheel wasn't latched in place, so it bounced around in shipping and the sprockets scratched up a lot of the frame
2) The chain was routed incorrectly through the rear derailleur pulley and was grinding against a metal tab (I have read stories from others having this same problem) and
3) Something is wrong with my frame and the rear brake rotor is grinding against the brake caliper because of it. The rotor isn't bent and the caliper is mounted as far over as it can be, so it can't be fixed. I'm not sure if it was bent in shipping or if it was just welded wrong, but neither surprises me.
So I'm going to be returning mine since it's completely unrideable. It's also currently out of stock. If you do buy one, it's going to require a lot of work to get it up and running, and even then its a gamble, but it has the potential to be an amazing cheap bike.
