Beware... Pennzoil Platinum performed WORSE than their cheaper regular full synthetic oil in the recent Project Farm video. Ultra Platinum is what you want to look for.

pennzoil didnt pay the last rebate. im sure they pay some...but not all. just look for the reviews related to this. so dont thhink that getting your rebate is a guarantee. my rebate was absolutely valid (purchased from Amazon...submitted all the correct paperwork). each time i file it they give a different response. took it up a level and now they wont respond at all.

this is scam. both rebates got rejected last time, stating item is not on the receipt, which is a lie. the only item on the receipt is Pennzoil.

So, the project farm guy gives it his best shot, but I wouldn't exactly call his testing methodology rigorous. It's interesting at least, but take it with a grain of salt. It all depends on your change interval, the engine itself (tolerances, materials, turbo, cylinder pressure, bore:stroke, etc.) as to what sort of oil you actually really need. Plenty of cars from decades ago are still around with lots of miles and crummy oil their whole life.

I got no rebate either. Submitted twice. The second time they labeled it as a "fraudulent claim" probably thinking I'd give up. I called them, blasted them a little for the fraud thing. Haven't gotten the rebate yet, but I'm pretty sure I will.

Yeah I didn't get my last one a year ago. I won't be doing them anymore and will just go with Kirkland at Costco.

Agreed, I like the project farm videos, but any dexos1 gen2/3 0w-20 oil should be fine at recommended oil change intervals. I wouldn't have a problem spending a little extra for the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, but I have a supply of the plain old Pennzoil Platinum in my stash and am comfortable using it in any of our cars.

Last time my rebate was rejected. I did purchase two boxes within same receipt at Walmart. Invalid Reason given by Shell/Pennzoil "Incomplete purchase-Offer requires more than 1 product purchased to qualify"

I wish there was a way to get everyone together to stop doing these asinine rebates.

I refuse to buy anything while it has a rebate. This bs needs to stop. It makes no sense other than trying to con buyers out of the rebate with some dumb technicality or straight up lie.

To be honest after working at a gas station that did repos, toeing, and repairs. I think premium engine oil is a scam for 90% of the cars on the road.

I've always use whatever is on sale. Cheaper the better. And never had any sort of issues related to it. But I also buy cheaper cars only. So maybe it's different for high end cars like lambos and what not.

Just keep on time with changes and you should be good.

deal isn't completely dead per se, but the 5% S&S savings appears to be dead.
