Good price. Keep in mind though that you can pick up something like the Beelink MiniS (8GB/128GB) boxes for ~$160 each. The Celeron N5095's in them are a bit (~17%) slower than these i5 6500T's but use less than half the power (15W vs 35W), have all new components, a five generations newer iGPU (which can handle 2 x 4K HDR transcodes for those Plex/Jellyfin/etc users out there), more modern/capable WiFi connectivity, and a footprint barely larger than a well-portioned sandwich. The newer mini PCs featuring the Pentium Silver N6005 CPUs can be found for a bit more at $260, but are only ~5% slower in terms of CPU power and are less than 1/3 the TDP at 10W.

No... the $200 i3 Aspire XC has similar CPU TDP as i5-6500.

The $80 Aspire XC deal has J4125 CPU which has much lower TDP buy it is also much slower than i5 6500.

This is a good deal. Sometimes you can get from ebay for cheaper. I got one for $80 a few months back and it is still a very capable machine for handling all office work and streaming.

But now pricing the very minimun acceptable graphics card these days, GT 1030 @ about $100
Or step up to GTX 1650 for about $250
I'm not thinking about gaming with a $20 2gb card.It appears the average gamer uses around a $700 these daze! YIKES

$120 for a PC with Windows 10/ quad core/6mb cache/8gb DDR4 RAM and 256gb SSD/WIFI and DVD is too much money?

For those who know computers, how does it compare to this -

Dell Quad Core i5 Haswell Desktop
Core i5 4590 Quad-Core CPU
16GB Ram
120GB SSD
Windows 11

4590 is still a very capable CPU about 20% slower than. I5-6500. There is really no noticable difference if you just want to do office work, streaming and light photo editing.

Windows 11 is not supported on Haswell Platform. So down the road there may be an updating issue. I suggest windows 10 with these older machine.

Excellent run down, (I am super happy with a Celeron N5105 CPU'd Plex server currently) however these Dells are listed as coming with the Intel Quad Core i5-6500, not the 6500T. To your point, it is even less power efficient, yet a bit more performance than the 6500 which is a 65 watt TDP processor.

TDP stands for thermal design power, not power consumption. Two CPUs from the same generation/family are not going to have significantly different idle power draw. The 35W chips are not 'more power efficient' they just have a capped top end frequency to remain inside a lower thermal envelope.
If the CPU is fully loaded the majority of the time, you will see a measurable difference in power consumption and performance, but for mostly idle workloads (ie, the vast majority of situations) a 6500 and 6500t will not be very different (other than the 6500 being able to turbo up to a higher frequency under load).

I was thinking the same but,

They do advertise a 90 day "Amazon renewed guarantee".

https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/cu...2U35N373NX

So that should be something. Acts as a 90 day money back return period.

This is a $100 computer that you can do most web based activities on for next couple of years, e.g. light office work, kids distance learning, YT videos, etc.

It costs as much as a tank of gas, and we're not complaining about the utility of that!

If the computer solves a need for you, get it. If not, move along. What's the purpose of TD'ing? The cost of your time spent here makes this computer meaningfully more expensive.

Interesting. I suspect this is a marketing option for Amazon, and does provide some benefit to the buyer. However, it certainly won't prevent the seller from delivering garbage. I personally have already been burned by Amazon's refurbished phone sales when they were fronting those as part of Amazon (two out of three phones arriving with delaminated screens and expanding batteries - I wasn't out money, but I was out time and frustrations with a functionally broken phone being labeled refurbished). Admittedly, I've had a similar situation benefit me when Amazon started doing direct shipment options from some manufacturers (i.e. - three for the price of two!).

At this stage, I don't have time to waste on anything but ships and sold by Amazon, and even some of those require scrutiny and experience to know how fulfillment is actually taking place. Given the source and the specs, this deal is definitely an option a knowledgeable buyer could explore, but far from anything I'd recommend to a casual PC shopper.

Thanks for the link and detail on that program.

Good luck!
Jon
