I saw that as Sega Collection and thought I totally missed a game on Genesis.

I'm thinking these are in fact abridged versions?

Dune 850 + Dune Messiah 350 + Children of Dune 623 = 1823

vs

This collection is 1226 pages.

Could there really be 600 pages of just fluff that gets removed?

edit: the google link also says sold by penguin and is showing 1856 pages, so I'm thinking maybe Amazon's info is just wrong...

edit:edit: I ended up buying it and looking through it and comparing to some of the physical copies I have, and I think it's all good.

since I already had the kindle version of the first book, I just compared that version to this collection and they seem to have the same amount of chapters and text. The collection version has a slightly bigger font size so amount of pages don't match but the content seems the same.
I don't have the second book and third book to compare but that's why I bought this. But I wouldn't know if it's abridged or not.

Why are they giving these books away?
Has everybody read them and they just try to get $2 still from them?
I haven't, so i got reading for a while on the cheap. Any more tips on where to get cheap ebooks appreciated and thxs? Thxs OP 👍🏻
Publishers do these sales all the time. It's a way to bump sales numbers for that month/quarter, and also a way to move a particular book up within Amazon's bestseller rankings ("#1 in Fantasy Novels," etc.). These sales are done often enough that I almost never pay full price for a Kindle book. I simply add the books that I eventually want to read to my Wish List, and every day quickly scroll through it to see if any of the prices have dropped to $1.99 or $2.99. Typically that happens at least one time a week for one of the books on my Wish List.

I recently read the Dune ebook from my library through the Libby app. I never have to buy ebooks and audiobooks. They're all available from the library. See if your local library offers Libby.
Not Libby for this but being on the county border I have library cards for both systems, one has holds on 8 of 11 copies and another has several available, go figure.
