Their silk PLA was the biggest pain to print with. Took a lot of tinkering to get the settings just right. The first several meters were not a consistent diameter and wouldn't extrude evenly.

Wish their spools were cardboard and had more holes to secure.

I got some inland PLA+ recently (it is supposedly made by eSUB) and have absolutely loved it. Is this stuff made by the same manufacturer or does anyone know how it compares to esun/inland?

The pricing on the filament varies. Four of the seven PLA+ colors are $16.99, not $14.49. The final price reflects that fact if you order a mix of differently priced spools.

Had all these same problems with the silk PLA. And when I thought I finally had it printing well, the layer adhesion was absolutely terrible

The spool I got was brittle, it kept snapping in the feeder when it was printing. I changed to Inland and haven't had that issue again.

That's a sign of the filament being wet. It happens. If you don't use it all up when you open it, it will get brittle over time especially if it's humid. Get a filament dryer [mytechfun.com] , make one out of a dehydrator [thingiverse.com] or stick it in the oven for a little while.
