Thanks everyone! I was able to bypass the limit and get the Big Sur up to 23 mph on a straight road. It can go up to 9 Pedal assist. I put it on 5 and the first 3 speeds are the same as 3 pedal assist

How's the Diablo so far for you? Just ordered one, if you figure out how to derestrict it, let others like me know!
I've put about 80 miles on it so far and it's been pretty fun riding on the road and dirt. I've had to adjust the rear derailleur because it couldn't get to the lowest (1) or highest (7) gears out of the box. I still can't get it into the lowest gear but I figured I don't really need it. The front disc breaks are squeaky so I still need to figure that out but overall I like it as my first ebike.

Even after 20 miles of assist level 3, it's still showing 2-3 bars for the battery. I don't know if that's correct or not but it seems to be more efficient than stated.

Did you happen to stumble upon Park Tool tutorials on YouTube for adjustment? Very helpful. Also, for the brake squeak issue, it's likely similar to 'bedding' them in like a car. I'd search for it for more detail, but you slowly increase your speed while increasing brake pressure (never locking them up), repeat for 10+ times or until there's no squeak.

Also, would you mind taking some detailed pictures of the battery, including the length? I'm trying to find a vendor that supplies replacement batteries for future replacement and will post again when I do.

For length, this is what would be needed, then just normal pictures of the actual battery (front, side, back, etc.)

Yup, my light weight daughter is able to throttle at 24 on straight road. It gets me to 22.

I am in the same boat. I am 5.11 and want to share the bike with my kid who's 5.4. Amped looks like a good option but I am hesitating because of the smaller battery and power. Wondering which option should I pick. Well I am in the northeast, so only a month of good weather I guess.

EDIT: Can the big sur take mild trails or its strictly a road bike? I have not heard anyone here buying the Silver Ridge, is it not good enough?
Reading reviews on the Amped ST, it seems many say it is a big bike and are disappointed it doesn't fit well for the 5.4 min height it lists .
Strangely looking at specs the Amped ST has minimum seat height of 26" while the Big Sur is 24". Of course the standover height is less, so still for someone smaller it would be easier to get on. I may still get one for my wife and see which one she prefers.

Not sure which model you're looking at but at least for the 'Swell''s and several other models, SWFT has replacement (or extra) batteries https://www.rideswft.com/collections/bike-shop

I was looking at the betty or the big sur models, do they have replacement batteries for them?(also some say they are the same bike with a different brand but i know the seat is different, so there may be other differences) I'm new to all of this.
Also, what's the warrant y on the battery and the bike (if different)?

Thanks in adv.......

Honest question: How good are these bikes? It seems that the price is pretty cheap. I know nothing about e-bikes. Just wondering how good is the build quality, components, etc.

Thank you.
Budget components on all of these.

Personally, I'm probably most worried about the power of the caliper brakes on most of these at 20mph with the weight of the bike.

For me, I'm treating these like an entry level ebike to determine how one might change my biking habits before I consider a larger purchase.

Got my big sur. Put it together quick. And it goes fast with just stock. 20 on flat. Battery dropped but I didn't charge much wanted to just try for 10 min. Gonna try with a full charge later. Haven't done the remover limiter yet but will. I like this bike is big and feels safer with two breaks over the costco 500 voyager. But for the life of me !!!! How do you keep handle bars from slipping ????????????

Big Sur battery warranty is one year. Other components 6 months. Bike frame and fork for life if fails at weld point.

Anyone know the difference between the Diablo and the Tailside? They seem to be the same bike just with different stickers but a whole difference on the price.

Did you end up getting a replacement from them?

Same bike, just different branding.
