AquaWater09901 have you confirmed that this works to get you to 28MPH? Also recognize you have the Big Swell I believe. Have been trying this on the Big Sur, as others have said, perhaps with other models as well they haven't been able to change it.

Perhaps you even have a different LCD Display? I can see on the back of mine it says it is Model AK47.

I have tried searching for hacks on Model AK47 but haven't come up with anything, but see this is in fact the display as quantities can be bought from Alibaba etc, showing this display.

I did notice I can get to some type of undocumented menu on mine with PO levels and settings by holding down the up and down at the same time while the display is on.

Edit:

Ah, I figured out how to remove the limit!!

These PO settings look to be standard.
So get to the PO settings by holding the Up/Down at the same time after the LCD is on.
Click on the power button to go through the PO's.
PO8 is the limit! This is in kmh, this was set to 32, bump this up with the up arrow to 41. That is the max I could change it to. This works out to 25.5 mph.
After this change I can get to 25mph going down a hill.
On a straight road I can cruise at about 22 with full throttle. Pedaling fast like crazy I can get it up 24.

So this is a bit of an increase. Perhaps with a bigger front sprocket I could peddle a bit normally and get to 25.

Perhaps it is a limit of the 350W motor or the battery to get me with throttle to 23 or so, but I don't think the controller itself will let me go above 41kph with motor assist.

Possibly changing wheel size, PO6, would allow assist at faster speed?

FYI, I see some people have commented about their having 5 instead of 3 levels. This can be set in the PO5 setting.

Here are the PO settings for an entirely different controller, but they look pretty close from what I see. https://elecbikeparts.com/pages/s...ser-manual

There could be some other cool settings to see what they are and work with them.

for example: P12 PAS Start Strength
0-5, Higher = more assistance
Amount of assistance given when you start pedaling.

I am thinking this must be low. It seems to give very little help right away. Perhaps a safety feature set at factory? But I want help right away!

Or PO9 might affect how quickly it helps?
P09 Throttle Response
0 for instant throttle, 1 for delayed throttle
Sets whether pressing throttle and motor beginning to spin is instant, or whether there is a delay between the actions.

Edit: P09 was already set at 0 and can't be changed
P12 was set at 3 and can't go higher, but it can go lower.

FYI, read on this site https://power-bicycle.com/ebike-power/ that hub motors are pretty much limited to 25.

"Once the ebike is travelling at 25 MPH, the controller-wheel speed is maxed out. You can't go far over 25 MPH on most hub motors unless the motor & controller pair are designed for higher speeds."

This guy also talks about a smoothing circuit the mfgs implement for greater distance. Something about a loop back wire that can be removed to increase initial assistance but at
a sacrifice in distance.

Is this random china stuff?

Not a lot of reviews. I got a warning going to this site (possibly fraudulent?).

Why don't they sell any ebikes on their non-corporate site?

Is anyone else concerned this is a knockoff? Joyridebikes.com is the original site (since 2001) selling Hurley and joyridebike.com (since 2015) is painted with 'weird' all over it.

I have both the big swell and mini swell and I am very happy with both. The big swell not only has the bigger motor/faster, it also has upgraded components. Hydraulic brakes, 8 speed cassette, shamano tourney derailleur, 15ah battery, brighter headlight. The frame is the same size, the seat is 1in shorter and the handle bars are 1 inch taller.

If you are looking for a scrambler style ebike, the big swell for $1380 is hard to beat. If you can afford the extra cash get the big swell especially if they don't collect sales tax at checkout.
I ordered the big swell as well. How comfortable are the seats on it?

What kind of motor and controller does it have? Battery is 15ah? I would think they would have needed 20ah to make a 48v battery hit 1000w (48 x 20)

How long did it take to get delivery? Can't wait for mine!

Did anyone get the Mini Swell to go above 20mph to the 23mph setting?
I have changed the setting P08 in the menu to 41 and the speed remains the same.
That is strange compared to the Big Sur and Betty I have done this to.

How about when you are going down hill, do you hear the motor running when you get over 20mph?

If you still hear it running then maybe it doesn't have the oomph to get you over 20, so it isn't cutting out at 20 just not enough power. Though that would seem strange with the higher wattage motor and stronger battery.

Yeah there's some math involved that marketing and an optimistically calibrated battery meter are going to have a hard time overcoming.

https://www.industrialbicycles.co...bike-range [industrialbicycles.com]

The above would assume that the batteries in the bike were top of the line and able to provide their rated capacity. I don't know that there has even been an example of a bargain e-bike using anything even close to the top of the line cells.

Here's a pretty mileage calculator with lots of variables if you want to try it - https://reallygoodebikes.com/page...calculator [reallygoodebikes.com]
Got my Betty today and she is beautiful!

Didn't even get it to full charge, (charger still on red), went for a ride with my wife on the Big Sur which also wasn't fully charged. We went 22 miles, fairly leisurely riding. Never below 2 assist, with some pleasure to climb hills and overpasses.

Got home and we are both still on 2 bars of power.

It doesn't seem the 30 mile range is exaggerated at all. I am pretty sure we would exceed it at our rate.

If possible would you see how wide the rear drop out is? On the insides of the frame, estimated. I'm considering getting one for a project.

How are the seats on the Laguna st? Anything that should be upgraded for a better experience?
It's pretty much a standard bike seat. Nothing special. My wife has always preferred larger and more cushiony seats, so we're ordering her something more along those lines. After each of the few rides that we've done so far, she has said that it made her tailbone hurt. I find it good enough myself, but I tend to put more weight into my legs and sit back less.

Hello. They Both seem like great scooters. and Hang 5 seems to have a slightly stronger motor which is great for those ascending hills and slopes and its about $100+ less than the Juice which made it more enticing to purchase. but i decided to get the Juice for a few reasons which i listed below. For me...those extra features are worth the extra cost, the Hang5 is still a great scooter and good buy. definitely more bang for the buck if some those extra features on juice don't matter to you. Take care. hope this helps

1st Range, Juice specs shows about 21 mile range, and Hang5 is 15 miles. (although many variables have to be accounted for on range which will vary on rider and environment... rider weight, speed, hills/inclines, etc...)
2nd Speed, Juice is rated at 18mph, Hang5 is limited at 15mph despite its slightly stronger motor.
3rd Comfort, Juice has suspension and a wider board to allow for an extra comfy ride. Hang5 has no suspension but im sure it still nice to ride.
4th Lights. Juice has cool under glow leds (Blue), definitely an attention grabber. i dont think the hang5 has underglow but i could be wrong. They both have bright headlamp and rear red led tail light.

ps. i have owned the Hurley Juice for a few weeks now, and love it, its so much fun to ride. but one con about it, its HEAVY in comparison to 2 other e-scooters we own (gotrax and Hover). its a beast. found the manual to the Juice, it says it weighs about 40+ lbs but it feels like 50. also. the range in the booklet says 31 miles with a rider that weighs 75kg (165 lbs)...
Thank you, this really helped! I was going to save the $ and get the Hang 5 but didn't realize that the Juice had suspension until you said it. We'll see how long it takes for it to arrive.

Well, don't investigate any further, cause what you're gonna find out is that there's only like 3 companies making most of the cheap rear hub motor low wattage 250-350W e-bikes, the motors are the exact same ones as in hoverboards, And even at these prices, they're making 100% profit.

What's the difference between the Blackjack and the Carve?

I can't find anything on the blackjack in terms of replacement parts.

I'm almost tempted to go with a Betty because it looks like the battery is easily changeable and it looks like a rebranded SWFT bike.

Any thoughts? I am 6'2
Well, the Blackjack is $35.01 less. Other than that, they're both theexact same bike. And if you look closely, you'll see that the Blackjack is branded Avalanche in the picture. AE-1 Avalanche to be exact. Because all of these rear hub low watt motors come from the same three or so companies. The bikes areb The same size as any other 700c wheel size, itrs a normal size men's bike and your a petty normal height, it'll be fine. On another note, anybody who bought the arve is an idiot.

Very interesting deal. At first I thought the Thruster interested me the most but knowing where I am riding mostly, I think the Carve is more suited for me. $699.99 - 40% = $420

I think I saw this Hurley Carve bike in the bike rack at my gym. I definitely saw a Hurley e-scooter locked up in my gym's bike rack. I believe it was that $240 deal Hurley e-scooter.

Hurley is a popular surfing and swimwear company and has been around since 1979. You can see their clothes at Kohls. I really don't know much about their bikes but I would prefer to have a name brand even if it isn't a big bike brand name than a no name brand with no history. I think Hurley will provide more customer support in the future if needed.
The carbon the blackjacker the exact same bike by the Blackjack is $35 cheaper.

I already have a road bike but I am looking at the carve, blackjack and thruster.

I still plan on mainly commuting in a city (occasional bad road) but would like try some short light trails, so I'm leaning on the thruster. What do people suggest?

Also are any of these battery replaceable? I can't find anything.
Carve and blackjack are the exact same bike.
