AquaWater09901 have you confirmed that this works to get you to 28MPH? Also recognize you have the Big Swell I believe. Have been trying this on the Big Sur, as others have said, perhaps with other models as well they haven't been able to change it.

Perhaps you even have a different LCD Display? I can see on the back of mine it says it is Model AK47.

I have tried searching for hacks on Model AK47 but haven't come up with anything, but see this is in fact the display as quantities can be bought from Alibaba etc, showing this display.

I did notice I can get to some type of undocumented menu on mine with PO levels and settings by holding down the up and down at the same time while the display is on.

Edit:

Ah, I figured out how to remove the limit!!

These PO settings look to be standard.
So get to the PO settings by holding the Up/Down at the same time after the LCD is on.
Click on the power button to go through the PO's.
PO8 is the limit! This is in kmh, this was set to 32, bump this up with the up arrow to 41. That is the max I could change it to. This works out to 25.5 mph.
After this change I can get to 25mph going down a hill.
On a straight road I can cruise at about 22 with full throttle. Pedaling fast like crazy I can get it up 24.

So this is a bit of an increase. Perhaps with a bigger front sprocket I could peddle a bit normally and get to 25.

Perhaps it is a limit of the 350W motor or the battery to get me with throttle to 23 or so, but I don't think the controller itself will let me go above 41kph with motor assist.

Possibly changing wheel size, PO6, would allow assist at faster speed?

FYI, I see some people have commented about their having 5 instead of 3 levels. This can be set in the PO5 setting.

Here are the PO settings for an entirely different controller, but they look pretty close from what I see. https://elecbikeparts.com/pages/s...ser-manual

There could be some other cool settings to see what they are and work with them.

for example: P12 PAS Start Strength
0-5, Higher = more assistance
Amount of assistance given when you start pedaling.

I am thinking this must be low. It seems to give very little help right away. Perhaps a safety feature set at factory? But I want help right away!

Or PO9 might affect how quickly it helps?
P09 Throttle Response
0 for instant throttle, 1 for delayed throttle
Sets whether pressing throttle and motor beginning to spin is instant, or whether there is a delay between the actions.

Edit: P09 was already set at 0 and can't be changed
P12 was set at 3 and can't go higher, but it can go lower.

FYI, read on this site https://power-bicycle.com/ebike-power/ that hub motors are pretty much limited to 25.

"Once the ebike is travelling at 25 MPH, the controller-wheel speed is maxed out. You can't go far over 25 MPH on most hub motors unless the motor & controller pair are designed for higher speeds."

This guy also talks about a smoothing circuit the mfgs implement for greater distance. Something about a loop back wire that can be removed to increase initial assistance but at
a sacrifice in distance.

Is this random china stuff?

Not a lot of reviews. I got a warning going to this site (possibly fraudulent?).

Why don't they sell any ebikes on their non-corporate site?

Is anyone else concerned this is a knockoff? Joyridebikes.com is the original site (since 2001) selling Hurley and joyridebike.com (since 2015) is painted with 'weird' all over it.

Fantastic pictures, Thank you. Only hesitation I might have regards the robustness of the fittings. Also curious as to the under slung item just forward of the seat? Anti-theft? Great looking rig!

The overall quality I would say is above average. I can push on the rack and the tire squishes before the rack really flexes. I used the seat bolts for a upper mounting point over using the upper tube clamps the rack came with.

Really disappointed in them and at this point just a third unfulfilled promise to make things right but no new battery, charger or shipping label, tracking number or return email. Everything done by phone. Talked to Steve in CS every time. Just a bunch of apologies and a waste of $600.00.
There's no way you can't issue a chargeback if you paid with CC or open a case with Paypal

Seems like you've been patient long enough, you're just unsure if it's the battery or charger that's defective? If you end up getting your money back and they just let you keep the bike, I posted a link a few pages back that sells replacement batteries for the Diablo. Includes the battery and charger I believe.

Any of the 430mm length ones should work, you can double check with the measurements posted. I plan on getting the 36v 14Ah later down the road, uses brand name cells.

Thanks for the information. I have no problem sending it back but I'll keep that in mind. Even a partial refund would be nice but to be totally disregarded is just bad business practice. Something I would never entertain with anyone I do business with.

So far no good. Big swell arrived Friday. Battery was not boxed separately. Found it loose on the bottom of the bike box with attachment tabs broken. Charged over night and will not charge fully. Plugged battery onto the bike and will not turn on. Contacted Joyride bikes via shipping notification feedback and email. No personal reply. Calling today. If no reply by Tuesday then chase and PayPal are getting reports. Best of luck to everyone else.

Good idea. I mean if they didn't personally answer you over Labor Day weekend you should definitely report them.

One question for you, when you noticed the battery loose in the bottom of the box and the tabs broken, why didn't you stop right there? Why did you try to charge it and attach it to the bike?

1 of my 2 hang scooters stopped working after 1 mile of riding. The screen went out. Now it only works by holding the power button for 5 seconds and the wheel will spin. Seems like the display or controller is broken. Will try to contact customer service. Seems like pretty poor parts or quality contol.

Has anyone tried contacting Hurley directly with issues needing warranty? Since Joy Ride is not responding.
Thinking of canceling my 2 bike orders, since there appears to be no warranty from Joy Ride.

Its both, They are the cheapest, most generic mass-produced bikes available in the entire market, they are made by the tens of thousands and somebody slaps a Hurley sticker on a few few hundred at a time whenever Joy Ride Bikes puts an order in on Alibaba. They get shipped to a warehouse in California or In New Jersey where Joy Ride Bikes has leased some space, there they sit till somebody orders one, The order is automatically routed to the warehouse dispatcher, Who instructed worker to pull it and put it on a truck. Hurley doesn't have anything to do with the operation. Joy Ride Bikes, LLC is the sole distributor of Hurley and Avalanche brand e-bikes and they pay Hurley a licensing fee to use their name, If you called Hurley E-bike hotline, It will ring in New Jersey at Joy Ride Bikes, LLC, a company that only has 6-8 total employees, and all they do is run the store fronts on Amazon, Walmart, Hurley, Joyridebikes, A1E, and a dozen+ other .com storefronts, the owner is a former logistics software developer, his expertise is in Ruby on Rails. Most likely no one at the company has ever touched one of these bikes, . Any customer support would be in the form of shipping you a another entire scooter or bike, nd you will get to keep the old one, there is no other recourse, Theses products are, from all those involved, viewed as disposable. There is no return repair process, because nobody wants them back. None of that exists.

I get the feeling at this point they are hesitant to provide customer support with the only method that they have is shipping a new product out. Because at this price, their profit argins are razor thin. The costs of the siupply chain ... logistics software, shipping, storage, handling, and monetary transactions are closinf in on being the same as the prodsuct cost, They might quite possibly be losing money on each bike in fact at this point, So they probably don't want. To go shipping everybody new ones, It's likely just a business decision..
