You won't find them, don't worry about it. These threads are sponsored by big oil to get everyone to run out to Walmart. Then to save face everyone will be claiming to "score" multiple PCs, trust me, they are all full of *hit.

expert did suggest.
indirectly , both acer and gateway are made by acer.
acer bought gateway name, and licensed the name to evoo.

anyways, so r u reconsidering the gateway after having actually used the LT?
or simply because u never heard the name before?

oh, i forgot there was another "expert" that did alert me.
to the fact that GW has 2x the memory (16v8) & space (512v256) than the Acer
Acer sold the Gateway to a Chinese shell company a while back. Gateway now is an independent company which made computers mostly for Walmart. This does not mean Gateway's quality is bad, or worse than Acer. It is just not Acer.
Acer makes some good computers but lots of other bad ones. I have never used a Gateway after it became independent so I cannot speak its quality. As a matter of fact, I have only had a Gateway when it was still an American company.

I was waiting for a Lenovo Yoga (or similar) Ryzen 6000H laptop, but for $300 I went and grabbed one of these. Before even powering it on I replaced the m.2 with a 1TB WD SN550 and formatted Windows 11 Pro on it. So far seems very nice for $300. Mainly going to use this for old school emulation.
nice.

i think that is best of the bunch. even at $300.

Use brickseek, but YMMV. Brickseek is sort of reliable...

The Acer Aspire is not a bad everyday computer, as long as you add RAM, switch out the small SSD for a gig, and add a hard drive for file storage. It's certainly not for gaming and video production, but office apps will work fine. Screen is not the best or brightest.

My eBay refurb came with a 2-year warranty, unlike this which has 1.
uh yeah 99 percent of people will never mod their laptop..

I haven't purchased ACER yet. But rethinking if Gateway is good or not. Never heard about this brand. ACER is popular brand compared to Gateway but specs are good with Gateway laptop.
Did you get any feedback from experts? Please let me know as well
Not an expert, but tried the gateway last year. Speedy, felt cheap, no surprise there, but I just couldn't get used to the keyboard. The backspace was too small and I just had so many mistakes on their keyboard for some reason

Can anyone confirm if the Acer can charge with USB C? I have a USB dock I'd love to use with this.

First thoughts. (Non tech version)
-The Acer has a much brighter screen. It was mainly noticeable for me was while using streaming service as I use dark mode for pretty much everything.
-I am not a fan of the acer keyboard. Everything is squished in and the keys and keyboard itself are smaller. The gateway keyboard is pretty much the entire width of the laptop.
-The Acer has a better trackpad and the buttons are much quieter. I feel like I have to press harder on the gateway for things like highlight and drag. I did see in another post that some are reporting trackpad issues while others are not. The gateway I have is accurate on the cursor, but lacking on the buttons.
-Love that the gateway has fingerprint reader. It has worked every time I've tried to use it.

-I'm going to do a battery test today. Basically streaming to see how long each one will last on one charge.
did you see the more recent posts that components seem to vary in these machines? e.g. the trackpad on a blue machine was much better than a black machine or vice versa. Not sure if it relates to the color, the year built, something else, all of the above....looking forward to seeing if anyone finds some indicators of how to tell which machines are better than others

I think its usually on the bottom side of the laptop. You have to turn it upside down
