SUPs are typically much larger and wider 10-11 ft long. They require a lot of volume to hold a standing person at slow speeds. This board is much smaller and requires a lot of momentum (ie waves) to hold an adult standing up on it. Might work as a SUP for a child

Edit: also adding if you're an adult beginner I'd consider something a little larger like 8-9ft. But again would be great for kids to learn at this size.
