Edit: Deal is back on for cheaper price at $1,043.99 for the excellent conditioned versions.
It's my first post. Please be gentle lol.
16gb RAM
1 TB SSD
Intel 11th gen I7 CPU
OLED screen
3050i graphic card
this has aluminum chassis that feels premium and makes upgrading your RAM and SDD a breeze.
This laptop went on clearance on Bestbuy. That in itself was ok but to me wasn't very slick enough.
However, I saw that it had openbox deals. I drove an hour to check out satisfactory condition for 995.99 found it to be excellent condition minus few scuffs that easily came off after some cleaning.
While checking last night for one more for my business, I saw excellent version pop up for 1207.99
This seemed like a slick deal so I went and purchased it.
Check for your local stores to see if they have one near you if not, keep refreshing to see if there are any excellent versions coming in.

That takes you to a screen showing what is available in your local store and at the nearest stores. (Available file shows the screen)
Select the condition you would like, such as "Excellent", and it will show you the store(s) nearest you that have the units in stock and how many they have on hand. There is only one store within range of me for the excellent. There were several stores that had Satisfactory.
I thought about buying one in St. Joe, Missouri and taking a road trip next weekend to pick it up but then remembered a. I already have plans, and b. I don't need a new laptop. According to their website you have 5 days to pick an order up but you can request an extension. I am not how how many total days it could be.

I decided not to pick up a floor model OLED with 10-12 months of heavy mileage.
If you're going after $995 satisfactory open box - your chances to get the floor model are pretty high at this point of 11th gen XPS lifecycle.

You can ask or look for the burn ins on the screen.
OLEDs have a tendency to have a permanent in effect if it stays on the same screen for very long time and I saw from one of their display model that had that same promo on at all the time.
What I saw was bottom left had screen burn in and the bottom right had the windows logo and words burned in because that was what was on the screen for how many months that it sat as a display in the store.
So that ruled me out.
I was lucky to find a return one with cosmetic scuffs that was easy to remove with some elbow grease.
I have high expectations for the excellent condition though 😆

Vs stores just getting rid of their floor models that become obsolete? I checked the inventory a little more and no store had more than a single "fair condition" unit.
To be fair to OP - this is a great deal for XPS 15, the lowest they would ever get. Just a very risky gamble with the old OLED tech. Even if they tell you "customer return" - it might still be the floor model bought and then returned

IHMO getting $1200 "excellent" would make more sense vs 950-990 "fair"/"satisfactory" due to the risks I outlined.
$1200 "like new" is pretty decent for XPS 15 OLED even vs 12th gen competition. It keeps resale value better than many.

That's why I posted the excellent condition for 1200 and not the fair condition as the header.
