Weird, my experience has been the opposite. I primarily use the SN30 PRO+ and sn30 pro. Both have been perfect with my switch.

At any rate, for me this is kind of the perfect controller for people that need a smaller simpler feel. If could change anything about it, I would seperate out the shoulder buttons a tiny bit. Theres like a millimeter between them and I accidentally hit the wrong one sometimes.
I own two SN30 Pro for years now (Famicon + game boy style). Using them for switch, PC, Mac. No problem what so ever. Note, that I'm not playing competitively or anything... ymmv.

Zelda, Kart, Party, Dead Cells, Crysis… use it for anything. growing up on SNES I don't mind the form factor at all.
Only one minor gripe if your particular. They are creaking, just like old SNES controllers would. Couldn't care less. They feel just perfect for emulation.

Regarding your issues: are you 100% you're connecting them in switch mode? (Start+y)
I had the same issues intermittently with a different controller, the Steelseries Stratus Duo. Turned out it was my wife's iPhone causing Bluetooth interference. As soon as she disabled bluetooth on her phone, it worked perfectly,

Just fyi, the switch has really bad Bluetooth. I recently picked up the SN30 Pro 2 and it was awful. Would have direction input delay or get stuck and keep moving in one direction or sometiothe opposite direction. Updated it to the latest firmware and still a mess to use. Returned.

Works fine on PC, Pi's etc. But I bought it for the switch for Nintendo online/retro indies and didn't feel $40 was worth not using on the console I intend it for

Yup. That was my first thought, there must be an update so I found the installer on their site, connected to the PC and went through that, was like one version behind latest. Zero difference..like I said, it's an issue with the Switch and it's Bluetooth radio. Check reddit or just do a web search and you'll see others have the same issue with 8bitdo and Nintendo switch.

Not trying to slander them. I bought the NS 30 years ago for a PI emulation station I built my brother and shelled in a mini NES. Works perfect. And I would definitely buy again but not anything for the switch.

It's possible one of their wireless adapters plugged in would help but I wasn't buying another product to get one to work, would be over what a pro controller would cost me

I got the same issues with the SN30 pro. input lag issues. There were a couple of times where it didn't lag and I was playing off someone else's dock. I believe the reason for the input lag and bluetooth issues is signal interference. So it's not great at home, but it works barely. You will likely to get issues if you have multiple simultaneous controllers connected and running as it will add interference to the controller. It's not robust, but when it works, it is really great. I bought one of the SN30 pro 2s posted earlier as I will pair it up with a portable PC for retro gaming.

Yeah the pro 2 has a switch on the back. It was set to S (switch) and had issues.

This reads exactly like somebody who didn't update the firmware which 8-bitdo makes it super easy to do.
This is genuinely the best controller I've picked up for the switch and well hands down one of the best Bluetooth controllers ever made for an amazing price.

I've had this controller for years now this is the cheapest price I've seen it at and this is a very solid controller. Anyone who complains about connectivity issues probably has not updated the firmware.
Mind you I use this on the very first release of the switch so it's not even revision one of the switch if anybody were to have bad Bluetooth connection it would be me and I'm telling you I have no issues just make sure you update the firmware.

I have the opposite experience with the sn30 Pro on switch. It's my go-to controller and have never had an issue. And the switch is docked in the next room about twenty feet away, behind a wall.

This reads like someone who didn't read. I did update it and still had issues. I'm just giving my experience. Wasn't going to go through a return when I saw threads about others having the same issue. Mine was the new SN Pro 2, maybe the newer ones don't pair well with the switch. I have a launch switch.
