There is no storage in this camera. The storage is in the Home Base unit inside the house (hence add-on camera). Yes, the camera can be factory reset with the sync button, and this should be addressed, but the recordings are stored elsewhere.
EDIT: I should mention, I have six of the Eufy 2C cameras along with the Eufy doorbell and LOVE the system. I've had it about 15 months. Highly customizable with motion and detection settings, exclusion zones, etc. Even installed the solar panels for each camera so there's no more charging.
Good deal repped

Has eufy fixed the sync button security flaw with their devices? Ie.. If someone decides to take your camera all they have to do is hold the sync button for 10s to wipe all video that the device has taken off the incident.
I want to pull the trigger on this but I'm hesitant due their management of this.

As far as I know they haven't addressed it and claim it's by design. However, unless you are a multi millionaire and have something extremely of value I doubt very seriously you will have a thief invade your home who knows of this flaw. If you have that much money or something of value in your home that you dearly need to protect, you're going to be looking into a lot more expensive solution than Eufy offers.

Yea that makes sense. I just don't like how they ignore what customers deem as a security flaw. At the least they can require 2fa when that button is pressed.

i think the PRO versions have a feature such that if someone touches the cam (like trying to remove it), it will sound alarm
the alternative option is the cloud recording, but price structure is not as good as Nest

or they can simply turn it counter clockwise and steal the camera as well. the one i was looking at did not have any locking mechanism.

Wouldn't it sync with homebase before they could wipe the data? Unless they sneak around it and know where the camera is, however, wouldn't that be a flaw with all cameras? The human hand?

Yes, you can program an alarm in both the camera & Home base. There is No fee charged for service ! An charged battery lasts for 6 mo's to a year. There is some lag time to detect the motion though. I switched to their system from Arlo , which I found too many flaws.
Not conclusive but my 2K wireless doorbell stopped working last week while the Eufy network was down. It started working again around the same time the network was restored. Part of the reason I bought the device was local storage.
If the camera housing is similar to the doorbell it would be fairly easy to deliberately break. The screws are not particularly sturdy either. But, it is secure enough it will not accidentally fall off. My old cheap regular doorbell practically fell off when I removed it. But of course we don't worry about someone stealing a $6.00 doorbell.
I wanted something that would keep my video off the cloud unless I signed up for a cloud plan and would also still work if the company went out of business.
About the 2K wireless doorbell, stop here if not interested.
I like the Eufy so far other than the huge hit the battery life on my phone has taken. Hopefully that gets resolved soon. Initial it only detected people about half the time. After about a week it is very accurate with few false positives but that is in an area with a corridor that weighs twice false positives. But even with my concerns it is the best option I have found that does not require a subscription.
NOTE: The 2K wireless doorbell can be wired to your existing doorbell. If your existing doorbell has the correct voltage. I am not overly good at handyman stuff and did it easily. Fortunately the existing wiring was decently long and worked great.
From Eufy"
The voltage requirement of the 2K battery doorbell is 8-24VAC, 10VA or above. https://support.eufylife.com/s/ar...7357656298

I've been very happy with my Eufy cameras. I have 2 externals + base from their Kickstarter still running and a number of others I've added since (2k indoor, 2k pan, doorbell, and flood light camera). I'll eventually upgrade the externals from 1080p to something better, but I love only having to charge it 2-3 times a year. Also, all storage is Local to the base or camera (depending) with cloud options. Yes, it still works when the internet is down, but you will not be able to get updates or notifications. External cameras also have theft detection alerting.
