The HP Reverb G2 has better optics than the Index, with the same audio as the Index. The main difference is the tracking and controllers. The inside-out tracking solution of the Reverb is known to be significantly inferior compared to the outside-in tracking of the index, even a little inferior to the Quest 2. And the controllers for the Index are considered to be better than every other controller in the market, with the Reverb controllers still using the original WMR controllers which, while serviceable, are considered to be the more inferior controller.

The Index VR kit is $1000 dollars for a reason. It has the most accurate tracking, the best known audio solution, and the best controllers in the market. But there are reasons to consider the Reverb G2. It has a higher resolution than the Index, the same audio solution, and the tracking, while not ideal, requires less setup.

V1 was trash (issues with X570 motherboards), I hear V2 is better. Specs are better than Quest but no wireless, which, after you try it, it's hard to go back if standalone VR is your thing. That being said, if you're buying this for sim aviation or racing, it's great (since wireless won't matter in those cases). You'll need to use voicemeeter if you have bass shakers set up.

Edit: also, controllers suuuuuuuuuuck.

Edit 2: personal opinion, unless you really need VR right now for some reason, I'd probably wait to see what new tech is going to come out for 2023.
Not under 300 anymore with the price hike, 399 is the starting point

No issue with the device. Everything work. only tip is don't have custom resolution or you will have connection issue and you will be pulling and unplugging cables for awhile lol

No audio jack but you can use voicemeter to output to two device. If you prefer different headset or you want to setup woojer device as well

Can anyone tell if this is the first or second version of the G2? I tried to look through the documents but I'm assuming they wouldn't sell the old one anymore…

Yeah, it's pretty hard to beat the value of the Quest 2 on these headsets. Under $300, 120hz display, comes with two decent controllers, and they're pretty easy to mod/adapt. The downside is buying into Zuck's collective Frown

The next big breakthrough on VR headsets will be autofocusing on your eyes (like lens machines do at the eye doctor). Not sure how far out that will be though.

Yeah the price hike surprised me, purchased the Q2 at release and while good the screen door effect really killed the immersion. Sold it and now Looking forward to trying out the G2.
