Just an example, I print replacements of broken plastic parts that manufacture no longer carry or never made available. I used those replacement parts and fixed things from doorbell button, home appliance all the way to my cars.

You can place the S1 similar to an ender 3 V2 but with all the upgrades you'd normally do straight from the factory:
Auto bed leveling, dual-Z motors, direct drive extruder, etc. The S1 is regarded as a great choice under 500 bucks, lots of reviews online.

thanks - very tempting. honestly i bought a ender 3 but never unboxed due to investment in those upgrades. sounds like this is a good way to cut my losses and skip to something with a lot more capability out of the box.

If that's the situation this is exactly the printer I'd recommend. Ready to print straight out of the box with all the quality of life upgrades done for you.

A solid option if you aren't ready to tinker with the printer and would rather get right into printing.

I got two of the $99 ender 3's last fall. I've done the "normal" upgrades pei builid plate, silicone bed springs, metal extruder, bl touch, capricorn tubing etc. Aside from the dual z and direct drive I feel like this is a lateral move for me. Definitely seems like a good deal but I'm having a hard time justifying getting this particular one personally.

You've essentially made an S1 with your upgrades, this is a good starting point, not so much an upgrade for your setup.
