I bought a Lenovo LEGION Y520 @ Costco about 5 years ago ( wow time flies ) and it works for my needs. But, I don't expect it to last forever, and would prefer to get a new machine when/how I want, not because I have to...
How future proof is this LG build? The 16gb RAM is a step backwards... I put 32 in my legion. But the 5 generation newer i7 probably makes up for it plus some?
First impressions are good. display is really nice. Speed is adequate for what I'm doing..
I was concerned jumping from the 15" referenced above to a 17"... was really just wanting a lighter machine and didn't want to go bigger... Ironically, the length and width of this is the same as my 15". Just 1/3 the depth and a fraction the weight.
All in all satisfied after playing around for 6hrs or so.

Obviously a lot of other people are also having fan issues similar to yours so I wonder if it's a case of some variance in the heatsink effectiveness (or whatever) from unit to unit.

If someone could post the results of the same benchmark for the 1260P version here, we might be able to objectively see whether it indeed throttles more.
Wish these didn't have soldered ram. For the work I need it for, 32gb ram would be the minimum. At $1600 I may have to wait a lil longer.

The real test will be using this full time, daily to work abroad...fingers crossed, but I'm digging it so far
