Can this do 4k at 60 fps? Whenever I connect my deck to a 4K TV, it throttles down to 30 fps even if i turn down the resolution manually. Not sure if a dock issue or a software bug.

Agreed, if there is a restriction in the intake, there will be less air moving through to remove heat through the exhaust. Dirty air filter in your car is a perfect example; while not blocking flow, you are restricting movement therefore less volume through your radiator = less functional system cooling capacity resulting in higher temps.

It appears to be covering roughly 40% of 4 (perhaps some of the 5th) of the air inlets, even if the the dock is not flush against the ports / holes, there still will be a reduction of air flow. Gases still behave as a fluid, changes in direction, bottle necks, etc all impact flow.

Now, the Steam Deck is supposed to throttle itself based on heat so this might not be a big deal in terms of damage, maybe only performance. Also you will not have two massive, near 100 degree hands wrapped around a large portion of the device, the device resting on a lap (blocking intakes and taking in body heat), etc.

Who knows, but I do think the question is worth asking and JSAUX could have tapered that part down not to block the vents. But perhaps they tested both designs and found no measurable effect.
Hmm another thing to consider is that the screen will be off while it's in use. I think?

Sigh, well they already have my money. Paid full price for the upgraded version probably a month ago and I believe I should be receiving my delivery any day now... At this decreased price with a code I would definitely bite if I didn't already Frown

Maybe use a Dremel to remove some plastic? I am definitely surprised there's not active cooling in this kit

Thanks OP. In for one. $30 (no tax, free shipping) is a pretty ridiculous deal. You'd be hard pressed to find a generic hub with all of this I/O, let alone the fact that it is an actual "dock" for the Deck.

I'm offered a 15% off discount code for my first order with them if I provide my email address. Does this stack with the code given here? Thanks

Just ordered one and tested it. The 15% doesn't stack.

Great price!

Just make sure you see the 1-2 weeks for shipping. I pre-ordered mine on 7/15 - shipped on 7/25 - it's probably still on a boat 'somewhere'. The tracking number doesn't help Smilie

That is another point, not a lot of heat from a LCD screen but it could add up.

I'd hate to take a dremel to a fresh dock. Active cooling kit would be....cool.

Are you already outside of the return window? If not, just return the old one and buy another. Log into Amazon immediately and initiate the return if you're still within 30 days.

EDIT: Whoops, I automatically assumed this was from Amazon. My fault. I would still contact their customer service and see what they say about a price adjustment. The worst they can do is say no.

I purchased directly from JSAUX, I'm not sure an exchange or credit would work but I will look in to it when I get home.

Is the gigabit ethernet the only upgraded feature?

Nice looking dock, too bad that ethernet comes out of the side like that though. I feel like they could've eliminated one USB port and moved the ethernet port back there. I hate it when you have a clean set up and then have some random cable sticking out of the side. I see that a lot in docks.
You can kind of compromise by getting a right angle RJ-45 cable so that it is blocked by the Steam Deck when it's docked.

Cat5 Ethernet Cable,RJ45 Male to Male 90 Degree Internet Network LAN Cable Patch Cord for PC, Router, Modem, Printer, Xbox, PS4-1.5FT (Angle Right) https://a.co/d/3vT6b6M

You could also use a USB to Ethernet adapter plugged into the back if you have one lying around. Otherwise, I agree. I'd rather drop a back USB and have the RJ-45 on the back for a cleaner look.
