This is getting downvoted by the hodl gang. Brainwashing based on zero facts and now everyone believes it. For the people with an open mind, this is $600 off the FE MSRP and probably around $900 off for this exact card. It's a good deal, but the hodl gang will downvote me just for saying that.

I'm not part of HODL gang because I bought one of these recently because I needed one for work, but when the 40 series cards are going to blow these out of the water for much lesser price it is not smart to buy a higher end 30 series card, lower end 30 series card is fine since the 4060 ti n lower won't launch until many months

"Blow these out of the water" - based on rumor with zero facts. Most likely a 10-25% gain (extremes on both ends) depending on card type.

"for much lesser price" - also based on rumor with zero facts. Why would they undercut what the now current generation is selling for? They are a business out to make money. All that will do is create more scarcity for new ones and make them take a massive hit on the current gen. Idiotic business decision.

Also tell me how scalpers suddenly disappeared, and how you'll definitely get one at a "much lesser price" than anything equivalent currently on the market AND at MSRP (those are two different things), AND on day one.

I'm dying to see any shred of concrete facts to prove me wrong.

I built many PCs last two years and had to work with scalpers to get graphics cards, I can guarantee you most of the ppl who bought from scalpers were miners because they were buying in bulk, mining is not profitable anymore so the wave of scalping will not be anything like last time.

WRT to 40 series performance there is serious competition from AMD and nvidia is being forced to up their game, Ever heard of kopite7kimi? If not google him, he is a well known leaker - Linus Tech, Gamers Nexus, Jayz2cents etc have mentioned about him as well.

See the pattern here? Thumb down after thumb down on my posts. The hodl gang can't handle the truth - the fact that they don't have a shred of proof of anything they claim. Until real, factual data comes to light, they're just talking heads.

I don't know jack sh*t about the next gen. But the difference is I don't claim to. I just know how markets, scalpers, demand, and supply all generally work. And they all have been, currently are fubared, and will be for the foreseeable future.

Supply (chain) - shot. Current gen is caught up, next gen will take a while. The process of moving products around is fubared also.

Demand - shot. Thank Joe's magnificent economy, low mining profits, and the hodl gang for this. They are only making it harder on themselves to obtain a next gen card by telling everyone else to do what they do. If they were smart they'd tell everyone to buy now so competition will be lower when they go to get theirs. But again, they are a gang that can't be told anything.

Scalpers - will always be scalpers until something drastic can be done.

All of those equal a screwed up market, and a market that won't be easy to obtain new products in. Look at the PS5 that STILL can't be found on a single store shelf to just buy on a whim. It launched November 12, 2020 and still has to be bought by jumping through some sort of hoop to get one.

My only advice if you're debating is to do what's right for you and don't listen to *anyone* else including myself. If you need one now, get it now. If you think you should wait, wait. It's your money.

Now that that's out of the way, please continue the downvoting!

I'm no Hodor, but for me I've waited this long I don't mind waiting a bit longer to build a next gen ma-chine. My 5 year old 1080 is going strong.

If current gen dropped in price significantly, it could change the analysis. But my idea of significant is significant.

What are you even going on about? You can't down-vote individual replies on SD, just the main post.

I agree this is a good price for this card - especially if someone needed this amount of RAM.

But there is also enough leaked info on the next gen card that your "Most likely a 10-25% gain" statement is pretty laughably wrong. The difference is that the cards will still be segmented by RAM... so 4070 will "only" have 10 or 12GB, and 4080 16GB. So if someone needed more than that, they have to pay for a 4090, which is going to cost considerably more than $1400.

I noticed you conveniently left out the most important part of my quote "depending on card type." If you want to compare a 3050 to a supposed 4090, of course there's going to be more than a 25% gain. I didn't know we were comparing apples to oranges...

I just gave you a thumb down for having no idea what you are talking about. You're welcome.

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. The 4090 will be MUCH more than 50% faster than the 3090. The 4080 will also be noticeably more powerful than a 4090 (well more than your "most likely 10-25%"), but it will have less memory - so it may not meet some use cases. I only mentioned the 4070 because the for some use cases, the 4070ti is expected to sometimes match the performance of the 3090 (again, with even less RAM).

Care to cite your source that contains *actual* proof of these claims?

And strange. I didn't know a mobile device was superior to a PC. Wild world we live in...

Hi, no dog in the video card fight, but the main forum most definitely has a thumbsdown for it, and your screenshot shows you are using one of the themes for the site. Perhaps the ice blue one.
These are controlled at this link: https://slickdeals.net/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions and then look for Forum Skins. If you switch yours back to the forum default, you should be able to see the options.

Thanks, have a great day!
