I'm not sure why they're not natively connect directly to the computer's Bluetooth.
What they need to make the mouse flexible/configurable so you can connect to any dongle to any Logitech dongle you have left the house.
When you lose the dongle, especially when you travel, the mouse is useless

It connects via BT, not just the dongle, so it's not useless if you lose the dongle. And the dongle stores *inside* the battery hatch of the mouse.

You can connect these to any bolt dongle. And I just leave the dongle plugged in all the time, so it never gets lost. if I do have to remove the dongle, I immediately put it back inside the mouse for safe keeping.

I use a $10 mechanical USB switch to switch my mouse and keyboard between 2 computers.
