Honestly I am surprised they even went with small antennas, I was truly expecting Asus to make a leap into cell tower antenna size for their routers.

I mean look at the Netgear R8000, that router had antennas that looked like miniature cell tower antennas.

Well, they have similar performance. But for people who want internet mesh, this one could be a good pick. Especially for a wireless backhaul mesh*

If you don't have a special use case (e.g. gig connection through wifi6 everywhere), either choice is fine. And Asus, Netgear, and Linksys are the best. You would never go wrong with them. But they could be pricy.

Is there gig speeds on wifi possibly using access points? If so which models?

I would love to know as well. I can't get gig speed through Aimesh and ethernet with ax92u: https://www.reddit.com/r/HomeNetw..._gigabyte/
I'm planning on getting ax11000 as the main router since this could be the only thing that blocks me from having a gig connection. If I succeed, I'll let you know.
And regarding your question, ethernet backhaul mesh is probably the only one that can POSSIBLY deliver gig speed through wifi6.

Buy a cheap switch and connect it to the router.
