Not even remotely true
Both apps are actually used by network engineers.

There is also a community at /r/CellMapper to identify network equipment.

Installed the app and tried it out. Keeps crashing and closing. Over it. Uninstalling.

Downloaded the app and wanted access to make calls. For me personally, I didn't want to give access for that. I'm thinking regardless what the app finds out, there is nothing I can change about that on my end, other than changing carriers. So I uninstalled it.

If you would just like to have free access to it later, just click install then stop installing or delete right after. This way you can always install it in the future as it will be part of your library.

I hope you will not mind if I challenge the need for personal phone users. The app is only usable if there is at least a minimum signal to indicate weak signal. You can attempt to drive to a different location to receive a stronger signal. As long as the device receives a signal, it is still usable. How can this app benefit an end user?

You figure out where your nearest cell towers are. In Vermont that could actually matter. Not that I would use this over OpenSignal if I bothered to do so.

Seems like a no name app developer, ymmv on what your privacy is worth. these type of apps inherently need location access, so you do give them a lot

Lol not so sure "duh" is quite right here.
Not going to argue this out but there are countless examples of companies continuing to track people both online and location wise outside of their set preferences.

I love how paranoid people are. Dudes, no one cares about you, it's not like they are going to become millionaires just because they know you are chilling at your mobile home or went grocery shopping. If you aren't someone that is actually important you are just a number, a number no one gives a damn about. "I was talking about toilet paper and got toilet paper ads! I better go get my gvn to protect my family" 😂
