It actually couldn't be further from Diablo. It's more like Baldurs Gate if you've ever played that.
No this is turn based strategy. The comparison to Baldur's Gate still doesn't get us there. This is more like XCom where you have turns.

This is not Real Time Strategy. You will have turns. It will play well on console since you have time to figure out your decisions.
It's like the Amazon questions thing where boomers respond with "I don't know sorry" or "I don't know I returned it" or GUESSING at the answer instead of just NOT responding.
Anyway, I'm playing through it right now and the game is incredible and I understand all the glowing reviews calling it one of the best RPGs of all time. It is definitely one of the most impressive games I've played. One of my favorite things is how you can talk to characters and they respond to whatever you choose to say and the conversation continues and you can't go back and try all the choices until you hit the "right" one. As opposed to other games where you just go down the list of things you can say until you exhaust them all and move on.
