This is a book written by a doctor with a promising future who was diagnosed with cancer. It's about him and his family coming to terms with his likely death.

I found it to be very moving when I read it. Several friends and family members also read it and found it to be moving. It's a fairly short read, but well worth $2.

Despite a number of legitimate detractors, I think this was a good - though emotional - read. I would recommend.

Great book. Feel good story about the spouse of the author. Kind of needed after reading that book.

That made me more depressed for the people that survived in place of the person that wrote this book.

i'm a surgeon myself and i gotta say, this book hit me like a train. it's a little rough around the edges, but that's part of its emotional impact. the earlier chapters are much more detailed and polished; the later ones feel rushed, almost stream of consciousness, and it's not hard to figure out why: the author was rushing to finish before he died. what i found most powerful were his recollections of training -- the tiny hidden moments of doubt and grace that i guess we all have, though we don't talk about it. probably the hardest thing for me to read, weirdly, was his description of the last surgery he would ever do. i guess it made me realize that someday i'd have my own last case and have to say goodbye to the OR forever too... it's such a rush and a privilege to be in there that i don't want to think about it.

there, my own stream-of-consciousness review, i guess. great book. absolutely recommend it, even if it's flawed.
