That's a finished, UV-resistant 48-inch (48x24x1.25) [homedepot.com] solid wood work surface made of dimensionally-stable, finger-jointed birch strips for less than a hundred bucks (97.49).

...Or a 24" for $37.49 [homedepot.com]
...Or a56" for $134.99 [homedepot.com]
...Or a 72" for $164.99 [homedepot.com]
...Or a 84" for $179.99 [homedepot.com]

(It may also be worth noting that their stainless steel surfaces are the same prices for the same sizes, as well)

Do you cut these to a custom size and apply an oil to match the rest of the finish?

These should be finished, has some sort of hard sealant, it wont stain. Its the table top for their modular stuff. I have a 6 foot bench, its a nice enough finish you may not want to mess it up Smilie

Wait, really? That's surprising; that makes it an even better deal, then. Rubberwood is tougher than most of the mass-grade Birches (grey birch and river birch being what we see most often in the states). That makes these as tough or tougher, and MORE sustainable (Rubberwood, as one might be able to go way out on a limb - babump! - and deduce, is used in the production cycle of latex. It grows super fast and is being grown for another purpose already anyway). Where did you find the reference?

Wait until Monday and I'm 95% sure they will be 30% off. Home Depot has been doing this on their Husky garage cabinet sets (this goes with the sets) where for a week or two they are 25% off, then the Monday after the sale "ends" - it goes up to 30% for one day only. I purchased their Extra Wide Heavy Duty cabinet sets and the 96" version of this for 30% off a few weeks ago.

18 inch depth is a deal breaker for me. Minimum is 24-26 to have enough room and be comfortable. Monitor would be too close even with a rack/mount.

These are a good deal IMO. I cut them up and use them for desks and other fixtures. Good strong butcher block and inexpensive. The countertop/butcherblock is thicker and much more attractive, but this is cheaper and still strong. I sand the finish down so I can stain/poly again. The 84" sections I bought were about 23" wide. I even put 2 together for a nice meeting table.

Now I just got to make the legs... Smilie

Not sure which ones are 18" some are 23" - the ones I get. Also, when I use them for a desk I make sure to use a bolt on adjustable monitor stand. That way the monitor can be fairly close to the back of the desk. Nobody has complained...

Yes. You can. I bought a rubbermaid 96 inch shelf and bought 8 brackets to convert them into a computer desk against the wall. I have my personal desktop monitor, work PC and work monitor along with a docking station. Looks a good setup.

Would this be better than Ikea Kalby desk hack?

For those asking about using this as a desk, that is what I am currently using. The Husky workbench comes in at 24.5 deep and I was using that and moved to this on a monoprice single motor frame (also on sale). This is a bit more shallow but it does not really seem like it affects me at all. I have 2 single monitor arms attached to it and the finish is great for a mouse. Overall I am happy.
