This late in the game, it should be closer to $300 for x70 cards. I'm tired of stans giving Nvidia (and AMD by extension) a free pass to arbitrarily jack up prices to levels vastly outpacing inflation.

While this is one of the best deals on a quality RTX 3070 yet, prices for 3000 series cards have nowhere to go but down. Nvidia has a ton of stock lying around. I think we'll see the 3070s under $400 in a couple of months. Plus, the market will have a lot more used 3000 cards available. IMHO, $400 is a strong but price for the 3070, and I'm in no hurry.

I would spend an extra $30 for the FTW3 ultra for better cooling, and VRM in case you decided to OC it. Also, a nice-looking ARGB. https://www.evga.com/products/pro...P5-3767-KL

Wowzers... Not only is this a pretty decent GPU, but it's actually discounted below MSRP.

Would this be a worthy upgrade from a 2080?

It would be mostly pointless unless you need HDMI 2.1 support for some reason. Otherwise, the 2080 is fairly similar in performance. I wouldn't upgrade from it. Wait until the next generation of cards is out for a while and prices are at MSRP.

Any recommendations on an upgrade from a 980 ti? i7-6700k cpu. Was thinking a 3080 would be fine and pretty noticeable? I know the cpu isn't ideal but I'm going to have to slowly upgrade things.

I went from a 980ti to 3080 and got 3x the fps.

Your cpu is fine

That's ultimately your call. The 3070 is usually 10-25% faster than a 2080 super (I believe the super was 3-5% over the original 2080). Examples of several games here https://youtu.be/NbZDERlshbQ?t=947

What about a 2070 Super? I only care about 1440 gaming and do not need 4000000 FPS, 50-60+ just fine to me, would you upgrade to a 3070 or ride until 4070 drop?
