If there is one thing you shouldn't ignore during hard times it's any aspect of your health. This may fall under the category of both physical and mental health. I don't see these items similar to stocks in market volatility.

Having said that, use common sense with any purchase and live within your means. A jog outside and some pushups can be done at no cost. If these weights are the difference between some fitness and none then it's probably a great buy.

I would think the opposite since you can get rid of a gym membership by working out at home. For some gyms, that's six months for it to pay for itself.

How do these compare to the Elite USA series?

Edit: Found a good comparison:

Looks like the Elite USA has a smaller handle diameter (33 mm vs 38 mm), a straight handle vs a contoured handle, and padded wrist supports (which provides more support but limits space).

Yeah that's perfect. I have a Body Solid bench and a dip stand but if that could support dips I can shrink my gym even more. Looks to be about the same sturdiness...

You all are headed down a rabbit hole. Both gym memberships and home gym equipment vary from bargain bin to ungodly expensive. It's all apples to oranges also. SomeO9564 had a good point mentioning that if your use your brain you can workout and stay healthy anywhere. Heck, you can get paid to work out by taking a labor intensive job on the side. Just be smart about your lifts.

I love power blocks and I have need for reliable gear that is heavier. That said I think they used the pandemic as a reason to gouge and took their already premium prices too high. I hope the coming recession makes them get more realistic about their prices. Just because they can replace a many other things doesn't mean they cost the same to produce.

Powerblock sells a column stand for $160, and there are a lot of good aftermarket ones too.

One underrated option (IMO) is to save some money by not using a stand at all and doing a dumbbell dead lift at the start of each of your sets Smilie
