US Bank refused to pay my bonus, even after I showed them screenshots I had saved. Never again.

FYI, they will try to screw you out of your promo bonus, by claiming the account was not opened with promo code included.

since usually any promo will require you to wait from 90 days all the way to 6 months (perhaps more), they can easily get away with it.

not even showing the evidence will help.

just beware

Since there is a monthly fee on promo all offered checking account, how soon can you close the account after getting deposit?

Seriously? The average American income is just over $31K. After social security, taxes, insurance premiums, and retirement contributions (which you are hopefully maxing out), you'd pretty much need a 6-figure income to even get $4K/month take-home pay. What about financially responsible people who have serious savings thanks to being frugal, but aren't part of the boujee 1%? I guess US Bank would rather have $8K from someone who has no concept of saving than 10x that from someone who has pinched pennies their entire life for retirement. F those elitists.
I get the message you're trying to send, as far as lowering the minimum deposits. But realistically, they're offering bonuses hoping that people are making enough direct deposits and keeping those dollars in the bank so the bank is actually making money. These traditional banks with brick and mortar buildings pay significantly less interest than some of the online options out there today. But I can tell you that living in Southern California like myself doesn't make me an elitist even though a six-figure income is necessary where I live. Just my two cents.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I'm saying US Bank is elitist for assuming that making a much higher-than-average income equates to actually saving it. This is all anecdotal, but where I live, there are plenty of single-income households that make over 6 figures, but a huge "keeping up with the Joneses" culture as well. Those who had disposable income the past several years invested a huge chunk in real estate and investments/crypto which have since tanked, but they'd be foolish to sell for a loss when eventually the economy will rebound.

So after a massive mortgage and car payments that they probably overextended initially with the rosy '21 economy, plus investments that are tied up waiting for a rebound, and general essential living costs which have risen 20% or more in some fields (e.g. energy and groceries), most have very little liquid assets or cash flow. On the other hand, most people earning a more modest income don't have large families and weren't spending money they didn't have on speculative/long-term investments.

Bottom line, just because someone earns more money doesn't equate to saving it, but US Bank seems to think it does. Also, the only retirees getting $4k+ social security are those that waited to retire after 70, which is a very small % since the average SS is $1,668/month.

And yeah, where I live you also need a 6-figure income unless you're single.

Opened the account today and tried to connect it to Ally. But Ally says the connection is "Pending" even though it accepted the connection. Also can't connect via Plaid either. Anyone else have this issue? Maybe I need to wait for the initial deposit to clear.

Almost lost my mortgage to these clowns. STAY AWAY FROM US BANK. I REPEAT: STAY AWAY FROM US BANK.

They double paid my taxes (their fault), took me a year to FINALLY get them sorted.

I dont understand why people use banks that have a terrible, scamming way of business, and its been know for YEARS!.

Good luck ever getting something done if they screw up anything on your account.

SCREW US BANK! THIS IS A WARNING TO ALL OF YOU: DO NOT USE THIS BANK!!!

They are not targeting the avg American. They want people who will keep their $$ there. This would the middle class.

So you almost "lost"your mortgage because they prepaid your taxes?
That could farther from the truth.
You don't lose your mortgage, you lose your house.

US Bank is a bunch of crooks, what ever you do, do not open a bank account here. They have seized my bank accounts for a loan that has nothing to do with the bank account. BUYER BEWARE!!!!! Get your money and run away as fast as you can.

I feel like people that don't like this bank should open an account, since we'd be getting $400 from them and then closing it after a few months.

Checking bonuses are about disposable incomes. What You're looking for are saving account bonuses. Chase has one with a 15k deposite and TD bank has one with 20k deposit. They want your money for 90 days to make a quick payout and give you a bonus.

I was replying to the other offer that guy mentioned. Not the one this thread is about.
