Don't see the benefit of Samsung OLEDs when they don't support Dolby Vision. Especially when they're so much more expensive.

QD-OLED tv's have much brighter individual colors than a WOLED does because of it's pixel structure. Specific colors get hundreds of nits brighter than on a WOLED. Dolby Vision is nice to have, and it's ridiculous Samsung doesn't include it, but you can get the same panel tech in the Sony A95K with Dolby Vision. The Samsung OLEDs are actually priced cheaper the LG G2 line and have better performance overall.

While this tv along with others have good upscaling, the Nvidia Shield AI upscaling is hard to beat. HOWEVER, unlikely that is it though because that movie would already be in 4k. So as much as I do know, I can't tell you why it is better in this example. I can say that while my old OLED seemed bright enough for most viewing in dark room, the tvs will loose details in dark scenes. Thought it might be just the TV app, so I was pretty shocked at the dramatic difference via the Shield. The setup goes through my Denon A/V, so the input for the Roku and Shield are the same and their are no settings on the Denon that would change the picture, so this rules out equipment settings between the two devices. Wish I could figure it out as I might be as impressed as some of the "youtubers".

They didn't use that excuse with me, but a 15 day from delivery excuse. Don't know that EPP plays a part given both were EPP discounts. Did you get the $200 Samsung credit? That would make it only $40 more. I will not risk a return over $40 and pretty sure if you have to return it, the return ship cost is going to be on you not making it worth it. Also seen where some have been warped out of the box. Not sure how given the protection/packaging, but I certainly looked for that when I unboxed. It is pretty thin, but that never was a priority for me as I put it on a stand. Can't wall mount where I have it placed.

The Tv was still very watchable, but I thought since I had like 12 more months on the Geek Squad protection plan I would make a claim
This was during Covid. I emailed them pictures and they sent me a gift card for my full original purchase price. They did not come and pick up the E7 after they paid the claim
Because prices had fallen, since I originally bought the E7, I was able to buy a G1 and another 5 year warranty
Then I sold the broken E7 on CL for $450. So new TV with a 5 year warranty and money in pocket to spare


Its very difficult to sell a TV you cant ship
You can try CL or facebook marketplace but be prepared for a lot of low ball and non serious offers

I am VERY tempted on this Samsung S95B...but the thought of trying to sell my LG G1 is just not something I find appealing
This is why I have been buying warranties on every TV I've purchased in the last several years. I've gotten my money back and gotten a free, or very cheap, upgrade on every set I've purchased. I still have one of the sets since it was only a $3 part and 10 minutes at my soldering station to fix, but warranty companies would rather reimburse me than pay me for a repair so I will take the win. I used to buy broken TVs and fix them for resale or to keep but the logistics of it is ridiculous. It's been easier for me to just pay ~$1500 once, file a warranty claim before it expires, and get a new set with a new warranty. Here's hoping I can keep rolling that single expense until I die... and that I have at least a few months left in me. My Q9FN has been having some power cycling issues and I'd love to pick this or the A95K up as a replacement once prices drop at Best Buy. It's like buying a Tacoma, you only ever have to pay for a single one for the rest of your life if you upgrade yearly. Freaking golden goose of vehicle resale.

Interesting.. I will have to pick up a shield and test it. On my qn90a, I had HDMI thru Sennheiser Ambeo. Few weeks ago I got Sony hta9, and the picture quality took a giant leap. I got rid of Ambeo, so not sure if it was coincidence or the Sony pass through had something to do with it.

I'm getting qn95b on Wednesday and will be curious how it will look. Definitely will try the shield.

For 80+", OLED isn't an option yet, and won't sacrifice size. If I could only find Sony a90j 83" for under 3k!

Yeah... but people like bright TVs that's why OLED TVs have not phased out LED TVs and even though they have diminished the chances of burn-in.... by making the TVs brighter. They have increased it, again,

I noticed the shield made the picture on my new sony a80j have a higher black level, and more dark detail. Seemed to me it had a higher gamma setting perhaps.
A little tweaking of the picture settings on internal apps and I was able to get the same effect by increasing black level setting in the sony, then sent the shield back.

The sony processor seemed to keep more detail than the shield, fine detail in peoples faces for example, but there was something obviously special about the shields video quality compared to ccwgtv for example not just the upscaling it's clearly got a better pq than your average dongle.

Part of me is glad I dont have an EDU account. I think I would bite this deal
But that means I would need to find a home for 8 month old LG G1...and reselling a big Tv these days is a nightmare
