Good deal. Worked for many years at a sawmill bucking logs. While bar oil is far better because it lasts longer and slings less mess around, pretty much any oil will work. We mostly recycled used motor oil, tranny fluid, or hydraulic fluid and they worked just fine.
it lacks tackifiers and makes more of a slinging mess..
That being said any bar oil is good. not much difference between the super expensive and cheap. 2 cycle oil is more important(use jaso FD)
PS home depot everyday price is 12.97 for a gallon of echo bar oil.. not sure 10$ for blackmax is a stockup type of clearance.

Yeah, I saw that too... but to be fair, $13 is 30% more, right? Just seemed to me, given record high barrel oil prices (oil, not just gasoline) that $10 a gallon for specialty oil was a fairly good price.
Its not like the stuff goes bad if you keep it sealed up... but if you don't use it often like myself 1 gallon will last longer than the container that holds it lol. I might use my pole saw 1-2 a year to trim up some trees so I don't use bar oil very much.

Chain oil is a pain in the rear. Somehow it always makes its way out of the tool and over everything else.
