How long is the deal going to last?
According to fine print, Buy Pixel 6a and get up to $300 back with eligible phone trade-in. Starting on Aug 8, 2022 at 12:00am PT and ending on September 24, 2022 at 11:59pm PT.

The Pixel 5 is also eligible for $300 via trade-in. Can a mod add that to the main post? TIA.

I recommended you document the condition of your old phone to be on the safe side (with either a video and/or photos) - it only takes a few minutes to do so! While the majority of people had no issues with their trade-ins, according to some comments there were cases where the phone got improperly assessed. To cover yourself in case that happens, I strongly suggest you document your phones condition with a video (best) or photos. I took a video of me performing a factory reset, capturing the IMEI number, showing the condition (no screen cracks, no bulging battery), showing it operational (that it turns on/showing the software on the screen), afterwards I powered it off and put it in the phone envelope with packing bubbles (so it doesn't get damaged in transit as there isn't adequate padding in the envelope). I also took a video of me putting the phone in the box and sealing it in there. In case the phone gets assessed incorrectly (them saying it's damaged, wrong phone model was sent, no phone was in the box, battery is bulging, etc), you can let Google know you have documented all of these things and can provide them the videos. I am sure you will be able to overturn the incorrect assessment as you have evidence that contradicts their assessment.

Be aware, some intake companies for the trade-in, such as HYLA Mobile Reconsidered (La Vergne, TN) have dozens of complaints of phones mysteriously going missing on Google (https://www.google.com/search?q=H...considered). Perhaps reconsider trading in if you have to send to one of these locations. It's advisable to look up the address of the receiving company before sending in your trade-in.

Full release of Android 13 is finally here! Everyone with the Pixel 6a that has updated to 13, can you guys comment on the any changes to battery life, phone heat, finger print reader issues and mobile connectivity?
============
From what I've found it looks like the Samsung Galaxy S10E is probably the best value for trading in. You can find very good/great condition ones on eBay for around $110-$130 For those of you looking to maximize the trade in value like this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/165666430056 and the value for trade-in is $390. Hope this helps someone! Smilie

You can find them on Swappa as well for around the same price: https://swappa.com/buy/used/samsung-galaxy-s10e

They gave me $295 for a pixel 3a that has a cracked screen
The Pixel 6A has a bigger battery than the 4A, both phones charge at 18 watts. If the 6A appears to charge slower it's due to the bigger battery. I was reading the 6A doesn't charge too much slower than flagships on a Reddit thread where someone compared the charging times. The phone learns your application usage patterns so it can manage the battery better and deprioritize applications you don't use. The result is extended battery life. I think it can take a few days for it to deliver those optimizations, but I'm sure it's always doing that in the background to optimize battery based on your current application usage. Adaptive charging also I believe further increases battery life. They've done a lot to try to improve battery life and battery performance. It definitely lasts way longer than my 4A but I also know the 4A battery needed replacement (the phone ended up being sluggish/slow and getting hot, battery draining fast so had to charge it several times a day).

My opinions about the phone:
I think the coolest thing about the 6A is the machine learning and artificial intelligence and how it powers so many different things the phone does. I basically have no issues with speech to text. I was reading it has a 99% success rate for voice diction which is more than anything else on the market. It also uses that stuff for photo and video processing/editing and tons of other stuff I can't name off the top of my head. They have some of the best spam and phishing filtering for texts and calls (plus call screening). I always use hold for me so I never have to hold when I'm put on hold lol. And then direct my call is super useful as well. They're just so many small things that the phone does that make every day life easier for me. I think what I like about the phone most is it makes everything easier and faster to do (it's really efficient).

Edit: Forgot to mention how useful Google Assistant is for setting up reminders (can do actually a ton of stuff) and the "Recorder" app by Google for voice recording presentations it also saves a transcription.
Here's the official 4 minute run down about the Pixel 6A from the Google I/O conference which talks about features, functionality, security, etc. Good for anyone that wants to learn about the phone.

Wish I had my pixel 4a back! For some reason my battery life on 6a sucks no matter.how many settings I changed. Takes forever to charge using same charger I was using with my 4a. My 2 year old pixel 4a had better battery life than my new 6a. Super disappointed 😞

How are some of you able to get a price match and trade in together? I've asked Google support to do a price match within the return period and they say they can't due to trade in. They reference this page ( https://support.google.com/store/...1873?hl=en ) which says trade ins are excluded. I mentioned that it sounded like the page was referring to trade ins that you're price matching with and they said trade ins can't be involved on either side of the price match.

I had the same issue and pointed out the same ambiguous language. No luck by chat or phone. I filed a BBB complaint and about 10 days later got a refund. Overall this deal was a PITA. Now I'm dealing with a refund issue on one 3a I traded. I received the full $300 value, but $26 done as a store credit, not original CC used. Google CS is useless. 40 minutes on chat and they can't figure it out.

What's up with these trade-in deals for the 6a?

Could it be that Google know this phone has inherent issues and are trying to sell it fast?

The main thing at this point that bothers the heck out of me is that incoming calls goes straight to voicemail.
Yeah, been checking this thread and haven't seen much chatter about that but I'm having issues too. First it was the GPS (that mostly has been resolved with one of the updates but still doesn't seem as accurate as my 3a xl was) and now all these missed calls. Seems like this phone is straight up Motorola garbage.

Thinking about ordering a Google Pixel 6 and trading in an old Samsung phone. A couple of questions:

-Does the trade in kit come with the Pixel phone or does the trade in kit arrive separately?
-How do you price match Amazon since they have the same Pixel 6 for $499 right now?
Some people in the thread were able to PM early on but it seems like they closed those flood gates a couple of weeks back.

For those interested in the performance of the pixel 6a.
Something interesting I noticed is the boot up time from a powered off state.
It is FAST! about 15s to initial boot and 20-25s to load widgets and network. About twice as fast as my OnePlus 8 (granted the OnePlus 8 has a lot more applications installed and less free space but that should not have such a big impact afaik).

I chose the wrong storage amount, apparently it was $10 difference
I had a weird experience last night. I had ordered with iPhone 7 trade-in and realized as I was resetting the phone that it was worth nine dollars MORE due to large storage. I canceled the initial order and re-ordered. I got an e-mail last night the my reorder was canceled, then an e-mail that even though it was canceled it had SHIPPED. I hope I get my $298 without difficulty.

I tried to order 6a today, but 3a trade-in only shows $200

I thought this was good until 9/24/2022?

Did I miss something?
I thought the same. Looks like Google change the wording. It was saying "Up to $300 Trade-In Credit on select devices". Now it says "Get Pixel 6a for as low as $149 with eligible phone trade-in". I think they received too many 3a so now they are offering $300 refund for other models.

Definitely not a smooth experience with the trade in. Unnecessarily stressful with poor communication. I just got my $290 trade in credit for a very good condition iPhone 7. Overall I am happy, but the whole process was a lot of work.

My fingerprint reader is still terrible after the latest updates. It doesn't recognize my fingerprint about half the time.
I upgraded from a Pixel 3a (fingerprint reader on the back) to a Pixel 6a (fingerprint reader on the front). I was concerned about the fingerprint reader based on what I read here, but my 6a fingerprint reader is better than my 3a ever was.
  • new Pixel 6a with no screen protector: fingerprint worked fine
  • added a glass screen protector: fingerprint worked fine
  • upgraded to Android 13 a few days later: fingerprint currently works fine
I was surprised that the phone didn't immediately update to Android 13 but I had an issue with an old SIM card and had to wait on a replacement so perhaps that explains it.

For me it was straight forward. I did have but wait at every step (widely reported), but most my worry came from reading the thread. I did chat once, but I can't really tell if it was needed.

It's too bad there's no way to get an acetate representation of just how pervasive this issue was. I bought my 6a, it was delivered a couple days later than original estimate. Then I got the trade in box. That took a couple extra days to receive. Then the box sat with USPS for a while (I'm assuming USPS either schedules a large delivery or the contractor has to pick up their own load). Then a couple days for decision.

Credit posted same day as approval email.

I did a second one and though it doesn't say delivered, I got the email already that Google received it and will be reviewing. No delay on that one. Same location.

I want to trade in my iPhone 7, in case the trade is not going well, can I still return/refund the pixel 6a?

For the Trade In kit, I see USPS as being better than Google.

USPS

Sep 7 Trade In kit received
Sep 16 Mailed Sep 16
Sep 19 Delivered

Google store

Trade In initiated
Trade In kit not shipped.

Question: Anybody who had their old device rejected or returned, how long did it take to receive it back from Google and did they give a tracking number?

Finally got my $300 refund for Pixel 3A.

Purchase date: August 21
Phone received: August 24

Waited for a week for the shipping notice for the trade-in kit. Finally reached out via chat on August 28; turns out they see that the shipping address has multiple businesses listed and they do not feel comfortable sending it there (no doubts about sending the actual phone, surprisingly). Provided them the alternative address.

Received the first kit on September 1, and the second - much to my surprise - arrived on September 5. In the meantime, they were contacting me to get some address clarification apparently trying to ship the third kit, which I politely rejected.

Phone mailed in: September 10
Phone received in La Vergne, TN: September 26
Trade-in refund issued: September 30

This all ended well, but not a smooth experience by any means.
