Why out of curiosity? I'd think a cheap bumper would be sufficient for added protection for pretty much 100% of us and be significantly cheaper.

The bumpers ruin the aesthetic. The steel is the only finish that can be polished of all scuffs and look like new. This is going to be my 4th steel one and they're indestructible. Every 6 months I polish mine and it looks brand new. Can dress them up or down depending on the band.

There might be a couple more sales where it dips into the high 400s right after series 8 comes out. But the steel sells out quick. I'm not taking my chances.

I understand— most likely true. I'm generally not vain and I've not gone one day in my life since PPC days without a phone case and screen protector, yet there's just something really off-putting to me about the look of watch protective cases. I'd just as soon go with Al and replace every couple of years. I could probably do that if it weren't for me leaving it on counters and kids knocking it over all the time— the chips on the corners bother me the most.

I will wait for the series 8 so the ss model for the s7 will drop to 400 range. Currently you can get the s6 ss refurbs around 300

Waited for awhile for these to dip under 550. Eventually caved and got a starlight S7 cellular 45mm for 325…looks like my next stainless will be the s10

I crushed my series 3 (literally) my steel series 5 has been ABUSED and still looks amazing - no damage at all.

If you're gonna cover it, why spend the extra money to get a stainless steel case in the first place? Might as well save a few bucks and get an aluminum Apple Watch if you're gonna do that.

What do you use to polish your watch? Always wanted but never tried. Thanks.

Same here. I rarely buy Apple stuff new. Unless the 8 offers anything beyond another minor gimmick, little extra battery life and some stupid new color I'm sticking with my 6 aluminum. Might bite on a bargain SS 7 if I can flip the 6, but not a priority.

Rumor is it will have a body temperature monitor that will alert you when you may have a fever. I don't think that will persuade me. The real big thing they are hopefully close to perfecting are continuous blood pressure and glucose monitoring. That would be amazing, but what I've read is that they haven't been able to get either of those features up to their, or FDA, standards.

Series 7 is for new customers. It has a lot of nice features (mostly same as 6). But I think my stainless 6 will last me at least 4 years. The stainless looks new a lot longer and glass has no scratches unlike my wife's aluminum one. The heft also feel like a real old school watch… something satisfying about it.

The sapphire glass screen is also a plus for SS
