I wish I never bought the gas/charcoal combo. It seemed convenient to have both options but we ended up using only the charcoal half. These things last awhile so for the past 5 years I've had a large grill sitting in the yard with the gas portion being used 3 times and collecting spiderwebs. I wish I just went with a large Weber grill. But to each their own.

How good is temperature control, especially on the charcoal side? Any way to slow smoke?
I want a grill that can smoke well but I don't grill a lot (yet) so would love to get a cheap one like this with both has/charcoal options before splurging

You could put all the coals to one side but it still wouldn't be as good as say a charcoal barrel smoker (which I also have and love) temp control is good, not quite set it and forget it...for $150 it's a great deal definitely FP worthy imo
Be careful buying a gas grill from Walmart. If you do, buy an extra cylinder, because if you fill the one that comes with the grill, they won't take the grill back under warranty if there is a problem with it. I got a new grill there years ago and neither burner worked, so I tried to exchange or return it, and they wouldn't do anything. I tried two other Walmarts and they also said that was their policy.

I don't think I've ever seen a grill from Walmart come with a cylinder, was it a online purchase?

I usually gas grill, but sometimes like to charcoal so this is perfect for me.
