This is definitely small and I imagine if the kid is 5 or older it's too small. However, it is all solid wood and seems reasonably well made and incredibly easy to put together. Total setup was about 15 minutes but look ahead where to put the 2 wooden dowels. Don't ask how I know.
Another poster mentioned paint or poly on it, and I think that's a good idea to make this thing last the lifetime of it's "usability" given the size. If you had a spray gun, it would be such a breeze to just paint it all before assembling. I suppose that's the next slickdeal I need to get in on...
