I literally used S21 trade-in for my Fold 5 purchase. I got 725, $50 less than S22 (I checked because I also have an S22).

Story doesn't make sense. Your package got stolen so Samsung charged you for the trade-in amount but they still sent you to the collections? You're either high or a terrible liar.
Quote from Merazomo :
You're the one that must high if you didn't understand what I wrote; it's as easy as day if it's happened to you. I shipped my like-new mint condition trade-in phone in the same package that they sent my new purchased phone, Samsung excepted the phone and sent me a: "We are pleased to confirm receipt of your trade-in device Galaxy blablabla... out technicians will test your trade-in to confirm blablabla...

Next Samsung email: "You agreed to send a trade-in device as part of order blablabla... we have not been able to complete the process... Samsung attempted to charge your payment method for $550 (the trade-in credit difference, since they lost my phone or stole it). Unfortunately, your payment was declined blablabla... if we cannot successfully process the charge, Samsung will have no choice but to refer your debt for collection" (unfortunately for them, fortunately for me my bank saw this as a bull sh*t transaction that didn't make sense, and blocked it).

I received a collection letter 2 months later on behalf of Samsung Inc for $550 (the trade-in credit difference), and after talking with my bank and sending Samsung an email with an attachment (video I recorded of me packaging and shipping the phone) they sent me an email 10 days later saying: "We are writing to let you know that an error was made that resulted in your name being sent by mistake to a collection agency blablabla... We sincerely apologize... (yeah, because I have evidence you fkn as*hol*s, otherwise you would've forced me to gift you $550 or ruined my credit).

Not that I give a damn whether "you" believe me or not, but all those reading this please take evidence before you ship your devices, or do in-store trade-ins where you can actually record the whole thing in-person.
I think the confusion probably has something to do with the way you phrased it. You see, you actually didn't get charged since your bank blocked Samsung's charge attempts.

You do bring up a very legit point though - people do have their trade in phones stolen once in a while, given that all locks/accounts need to removed from phone before shipping, it's an easy score for the thieves. This is why I try to stay away from mail in trade-ins.

Btw, did you contact Samsung to resolve this issue? I'm not sure what you meant by you got them off your back. Usually, until they actually "complete" the trade in, it's always in the system as a trade-in that's not satisfied.

Sorry for the long story, but here it goes. I contacted Samsung customer support countless times; every time you contact them it's someone different, and the names they use during chat makes it very difficult to keep track of who's helping you since they're not real, just usernames. So there's a lot of emails like: "hey this is Jon, we spoke yesterday about " but his name was Amad on the chat Lol. Sometimes you have to save, copy, and paste your chats, given you will have to repeat the same 10 paragraphs you just typed with the previous representative to the next person.

Samsung got some manager that specialized in these kind of issues. Initially, according to this manager, Samsung did receive the phone. A few days later, he changed his statement to the reason I was being charged was because the phone was never received (remember, I have an email from Samsung themselves stating that they received traded-in device order# XXXXXXX) and they're evaluating it. To answer your question... after my bank got involved and I sent them the evidence (when I received the collection letter), Samsung changed the trade-in value status at the Samsung Invoice Page order from "Pending" to "Manually Completed". I'm sure that proves they did lose or stole my phone, since that doesn't seem like a normal procedure.

Other Samsung trade-ins I have done in the past showed "Completed" followed by "Successfully Traded In" as well as a checkmark inside a circle to the right as the status in my Samsung Invoice Page. My bank told me to save all this evidence for a few years; including their apology that they sent the wrong name to collection (sure).

iPhone 12 max is 600 tiv in Samsung Vs 900 in Best Buy store. Samsung gives you extra 200 for accessories which I don't need. So I'll take 900 instead of 600
This is mostly what it comes down to. The BB deal is probably best for those who just want to buy a phone. The Samsung deal is best for those who value the watch and/or buds. And, of course, other possibilities apply, such as if you have $500 in BB GCs laying around to use up. Or the same at Samsung.

How is this supposed to work? I went to a best buy yesterday and after being told I was wrong countless times because I clicked this deal off of slickdeals instead of their website, we found where the original page was. After, though, no one had any idea how to actually do this trade in promo and the work.

Is it just a standard trade in that gets completed with the qualifying phone or is there like a bridge/core blue process involved with it? I was really excited by this deal, but best buy employees deflated the hell out of me.

Did it this afternoon and went well.

Flip 3 with some hinge damage from a drop on a rocky surface and a 3/8th inch long scratch or wear line in the screen cover/plastic and it got accepted for full credit. I was worried I would send it to Samsung and either issue would have boned me.

I brought my Flip 5g with in case they wanted to ding me heavy for the Flip 3s damage and was pleasantly surprised to get 800 credit for it too, so I bought 2.

Both came with free cases too.

I bought the Flip 5g for $350 and Flip 3 with extras(buds 2, charging pad, case) for $450, so bigtime wins to me turning these into $800x2 discounts.
How'd you do it my friend? I went into a best buy and they thought I was freaking nuts and then no one knew how to actually process this promotion.

When I got there, the person I was dealing with didn't know about it either, so she just asked the guy with the Samsung shirt about it, and away we went.

This was the Minnetonka, MN Store.
