I went today to try to trade in my s20FE for an s21FE and towards the end I saw a balance of $117... The rep told me that the price is $700 unlocked, and $500 with "Activate now." I was told "activate now" means I'd be locked to tmobile for 2-3 years. I'm new to buying phones so was the rep correct or did I get swindled?

Everyone on here made it seem like you just traded in your s20FE for an s21FE and received a $90 gift card. Were you all locked into 2 year plans with your carrier after? I ended up just trading in my s20FE for an s22 and paid $200 for the upgrade. Not terrible, but I'd much rather have traded in my s20fe fora gift card and a new s21FE
you got swindled. but you're a newbie. there will be plenty of deals like this in the coming years. continue reading this kinda threads so yo will learn the ropes.

I did... I showed them on the website also. But they told me I either trade my phone for 600 and pay 699.99 for the s21 fe or trade for 145 something and pay 499.99 for s21 fe... maybe I'm just unlucky cause I don't know what else to tell them
if you did not do the deal yet i'd go to a different store. show them their ad and how it's done. just don't show them your Slickdeals app etc....

That's unfortunate. What is the difference in "activate now" and "activate later" then? Why is there a $200 difference in price for phones if BB has no part in it? I'm not understanding that at al

I assume best buy gets some sort of kickback from the wireless company.

For someone trading in a Samsung phone at the store for a new Z Flip4, when you pick it up on the 26th, how do you transfer data, etc between the two phones? You are giving them your totally reset phone before they hand you the new phone. I am used to using Smart Switch when I have both phones in my hands.

there are usually 2 full purchase prices on phones, "activate today" or "activate later". sometimes both are the same, sometimes activate today is lesser. yeah i'm sure BB gets something when they activate a line.

i've seen customers waste 30 minutes of their time transferring data at the mobile dept when they pick up their new phone. the older the customer, the longer time they waste. i'd back up everything in the google cloud and just sync with the new phone when i get home.

This doesn't exist in Tennessee;
I just went to Murfreesboro in person and they didn't even bother to check this.
I called the BB in Brentwood Tennessee, and no luck there.

I don't know what the hell is going on or if our BestBuy in TN is just full of incompetency or what.
i suggest you move to a different state....

if you dont want to google back up you will have to sit in the store and smart switch with cable before you erase your phone. they will let you do it, but be aware it can take hours...

I wonder why Samsung and Best Buy don't accept Pixel 6 and 6 Pro for trade-in?
I believe it's because Samsung is trying to keep Samsung users in the Samsung yearly upgrade cycle instead of risking them jumping ship after going a while without a new Samsung. Samsung and Apple are both known for "capturing" customers and passively "trapping" them with nice looking deals to stay aboard their ship.

I don't think that's it at all. If that was the case, they wouldn't allow any other brand trade ins. I think its more of the pixel 6 is still google's most recent phone. It's the same reason the iphone 13 isn't on there. The only deviation was the flip3 being on there from the beginning.

My bad didn't see the 5. Yeah, the assumption with Samsung is probably that a person who jumps from the pixel 6 to these phones this fast most likely isn't going to be "trapped" aka a long term customer. Their goal is never a one and done
