I got the S21 FE for $499 with T-Mobile. They did try to give me the unlocked one for $699 but said I had tmobile and I would put in my old sim card. I didn't need to give them my account details. I only gave them my best buy account info. I was pretty amazed as I thought I would have to pay at least $200 with taxes in the end. I think had a pretty great rep at best buy.
What made it even better was I got the $300 Verizon z flip 3 deal last week and just used it as a trade in on Samsung.com to get another z flip 4 pre-order then $200 Samsung credit with promo codes. I had to pay $174 for that one though. I will probably end up selling one of them unless another person in my family wants it. Slickdeals has turned into a very good hobby for me!
it's like giving them a peek at their loopholes. a few months back when you do the trade in deal they give you the full $800 gift card when you return their unlocked phone. a nice moneymaker. but now they don't anymore. they will close the loopholes.
I didn't bother pushing them - they were already spewing so much BS - and drove out to the rich neighborhood BB at Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek instead. They handled it smooth like butter.
The S21 FE requires activation for the $499 price (instead of $699), so I opted for the S22 at $799. I would have paid extra for 256 GB, but they didn't have stock and I didn't want to wait. Paid $27.74 out of pocket: $799 - $500 coupon = $299.99 plus sales tax minus the $300 gift card.
The S21 FE seems like a better deal, but I didn't want to deal with activating and cancelling.

S21 FE price was pretty slick, especially if you do a second trade-in at Samsung; But dead now
Less risk doing the trade-in in person
Samsung deal was only good for the watch and buds
California taxes on the full cart amount - which was easily over $100 for the Flip + Watch + Buds. So it depends where you live
