I have a different brand of silicone popcorn bowl. I use it to make popcorn more than any other way now. I like the popcorn from a stirring hot oil popper a little better, but this takes less room to store. It pops most of the kernels, and is healthier, cheaper, and better than the microwave bags. I also don't find the popcorn from this as dry as an air popper.

Anyone used this before? I'm tempted for the form factor convenience- wondering if it could be used as an all purpose steamer as well

Thoughts on this vs just using brown paper bags in the microwave?

Most of the reviews are good but the bad ones with the photos are scary. How are people getting such different results?

I suspect most of these fails are not taking microwave wattage into account.

An large quantity of people with infinite ranges of intelligence using a wide variety of microwave sizes and powers ** = Such different results

I can't figure out how anyone lets popcorn get as burned as some of those photos. How does it ever get to that point? I suspect they put it on high for 4 minutes and just walk away (see ranges of intelligence above).

**ETA: and and unknown variety of popcorn brands and qualities

probably people who claimed to have followed the directions but really didn't. pics look like there was oil/butter thrown in. there's probably a microwave wattage in the directions that they didn't take into account and maybe their microwave was a lot stronger.

cheap enough for me. gonna give it a try cause I enjoy fresh popped over manufactured bags and this will save me from cleaning a pot.

I don't have one from this brand but something similar and I've been traumatized from melting the lid on to the popcorn one time but that's because I'm dumb and left it in the microwave for too long so if you don't make the same mistake you could enjoy this item

Times vary based on wattage and other factors

Keep a eye on it and you are good if you don't hear popping for a few seconds means done and don't keep cooking

These work amazing. If your microwave has a 🍿 button, use that and your popcorn will come out fine. For a snack I add three tablespoons of popcorn, a couple drops of water and then add a 1/4 teaspoon of finally ground salt and give it a shake before microwaving. Those couple of drops of water seem to give me bigger popcorn and the salt gives it flavor so I don't need to do anything with it after it comes out. Of course butter and oil would be better but I don't have time for that.

Splurge a little and just get a spinner pot and have movie theater popcorn. I've been using the spinner for years with some Flavacol and butter. Yes, a lot more work but worth it. Amazing popcorn every time.

This is nice but honestly try throwing kernals in a brown paper bag then microwave. It works great.

Those take up too much room unfortunately

I suspect the burned popcorn comes from users who set the time to 1.5x longer than suggested or more and then walk away, returning 5 minutes after it's done to find the stuff burned. The same folks burn the popcorn in the bags too.

These are really convenient poppers but don't make a lot of popcorn per batch and the popper can get really hot, meaning you have to wait a few minutes between batches. Not good if you are making popcorn in a hurry for multiple people. But for just me, and I'm the one who eats popcorn 90% of the time at our house, it's fine.

On a side note, take some dried dill and mix it in with your popcorn after you've buttered it. It's a bit tricky to get it distributed evenly and you need salt with it, but it tastes fantastic. I don't know why dill mixes with buttered popcorn so deliciously but it does.

Do you add the butter, salt before popping or after?
