Very good price but unfortunately I had bad experiences with Seagate. I had 2 of external ones failed while the very first external WD I have has been working well.

Everytime there is a deal for a hard drive, there is always someone that champions one brand over another claiming they had issues with specific brands.

Well if you HAD data you wanted to retrieve you would have a shot by shucking the drive with Seagates. WD is a disposable drive.

Any one know what drive is inside the case? CMR? 9.5mm?

That is usually the case for everyone. Just that brand name changes. For me it was exactly opposite. I am sure just black magic happens with first drive(irrespective of brand).

Yeah I see Seagate fail a ton. None of my WD's have failed, knock on wood.
