The specs on this unit are nice... but after seeing the OLED screen on the Asus laptop I just bought my wife I will never buy another higher-end laptop without an OLED...

I am also a sucker for OLED displays and have 3 laptops with different screen sizes with OLED. IPS does have its place and advantageous in some aspects, like lower power consumption.

I thought oled was the power saver of screens? That's why phones use them…

Note that I think the weight is 2.98 not 3.74

I literally held it and the yoga slim 7i (which is about 3.1lbs) in each hand and the yoga felt heavier…

This YouTuber viewer lists the new 12th gen model at 2.9lbs also

https://youtu.be/xjy75oS4XAA

Maybe MSI is including the charger in their specs?

Let me explain you that. If a OLED display and an IPS display with same size, resolution and brightness are active for same amount of time, the OLED will always consumes more power.
The battery savings in Phone comes because how that device is used. It is a Always On device where you simply turn on and off the Display frequently but the other thing in the device is always on. Now when you turn off the display only, an OLED display can turn off all the pixels, hence completely cutting the power to it whereas for an IPS display, the LED backlit can't never be turned off completely and consumes a very small amount of power all the time, until the device is completely turned off. That's hwy, having an OLED display in Phones does help with battery preservation better than an comparable LCD display.

In Computer, the use case is completely different where when you're using it, the Display is completely on for the whole time and when you turn off or put it in sleep mode, the display and most other hardware completely goes switch off, cutting the power to them. You don't just turn on and off the display in every 10 minutes when using it, unlike a phone. Because of that, in a Laptop with OLED display, when you work for certain amount of time continuously, OLED one consumes more power and hence more heavy on Battery life.

1. I think there is a version also in COSTCO with 32GB RAM and the same i7-1280P processor but that might be 14"

2. In hand feeling is cheap comparing with full metal Lenovo and Samsung ultrabook. I think the frame is metal but the top and/or bottom lid is plastic and you can feel the laptop bend slightly when lifting from one of the palmrests

MSI Prestige 14 with 16:9 1080p display and that's a Clamshell laptop, one tier below Summit series, at $999.99. I've posted that too .

I'm not sure which laptop you're referring about the build quality but the Summit E13 is all CNC Metal build. There are plenty reviews confirming that.

Hmph. Didn't know that. I've been assuming everyone wanted OLEDs for battery life, because black pixels were "off" pixels, plus dark mode, would be insane battery savings…

But you're saying that OLEDs use more power anyways?

Thanks for clearing that up.

Far better than that, although not comparable with Ryzen 5000 and 6000 series. Reason is that unlike other 13.3" laptops using below 60 WHr battery, this uses a bigger 70 WHr battery. You will get around 5 to 6 hours. There are some reviews available as well.

I am not saying that, read it properly. I am saying that OLED can provide better or worse battery life based on the device type and use cases. In Phones and Tablets, which are always on and connected device, it is useful. But it is not so much for PC laptops.
