that extreme ultra wide Samsung has a 32:9 aspect ratio, it's above a 16:9 4K. So neither "4K or 2K" it's driving around "6K" of pixels. I really hate the "(X)K" tech term, it needs to go away.

Not a fan of the front lights, and seems like the monitor has some downfalls for its original price point, but for $600 this seems pretty slick. my 34" LG just died for the 3rd time so great timing. still waiting/hoping for a mini LED in similar specs, but this is (relatively) inexpensive enough to not feel too bad about about moving it to 2nd monitor duty if/when the unicorn release finally happens.

I bought the Acer XR383CUR for $699 on Amazon. No front lights and it comes with switch. When I bought it was going in and of stock so maybe you can catch it if it comes back.
How come they don't make curved 4k ultra wide screen monitors yet?
1440p is roughly 13" top to bottom of screen size +/- a bit due to width.
to be 4k it would have to be 26" tall and would be roughly equivalent to a 55" tv.. of which samsung makes a 57 curved.. not really doable for desktop gaming as you'd be looking up to the top of that screen constantly.
only so many pixels fit per square inch

The funny thing is that terms like 5k2k are basically bringing back resolution measurements, just in rounded form.
But, it's not curved. 42" flat screen is too wide to see the edges clearly, as the angle is too steep, and far away, relative to the center of the screen.
might be okay for some games, but anything with UI at the edges, or work documents/software will be less productive/inefficient to use, because the edges are extremely uncomfortable to read.
