Eh, these are for tradesman. You can carry material in your hands with your tools on your back. Plus alot of buildings you're going up 3-8 floors worth of steps so it's nice to make as few trips as possible. For residential it's stupid though, yes

Commercial electrician here. I'd say at this point the majority of us working in the city are using backpacks, that is a silly statement. Are we using $15 backpacks? No, Veto makes a fantastic backpack ($$$), The Klein backpack is just OK. I plan on grabbing a couple of these. I'm hoping they are good enough quality for some backup tools, we shall see.

This bag, no...as I stated this is not DIY quality either. However around BF / Christmas you can find decent bags at HD or Lowes, in this same rough price range, which appear comparable to Veto or Hilmor bags which are quite common among HVAC and plumbing professionals.

My point was your silly critique of a $14 tool bag/backpack (based solely on pictures, mind you). What do you expect..professional quality? You then said there were better bags (duh), so I asked you for one for $14 and...tick tock...BUPKIS! 😂😂😂

ANYONE can point to some CHEAP product and make speculative observations with ZERO actual experience with the product. Big whoop. Show us a BETTER product for the same $$ or else you're wasting everyone's time.

Yes, climbing a ladder with two hands is a good idea. Having basic tools to diagnose / fix 99% of common HVAC problems you'd run into on a PM is a good idea as opposed to climbing back down the ladder and back to your van for something minor. Not pulling a 5 gallon bucket up the side of the roof with some random rope you took from a demo job is also a good idea.

Now, just to clarify. When you go up on a roof to fix an "AC unit" what tools do you take and how do they get there? Oh yeah, you are that guy who rounds every bolt and strips every screw with his pawn shop multilool....am I close? You attempt to fix every no cooling call with a can of refrigerant (normally the wrong type) attached to a single charging hose and 'top off' until the suction line is "beer can cold." If that doesn't work you collect your cash payment any way....never to be seen again. And no, I don't know you personally but see your kind all the time out in the field.

What's up with the anti-backpack lobby? I use a backpack for mobile visits. Not this particular one, but nothing wrong with backpacks. Plus they fit better in my frunk than boxes.

As a note, this is perfect for people who need a contingency bag of small tools, tape, and etc., to carry with them when they can't carry a big tool chest/box and can only do the quick repairs when things happen. It may not fit your need, but it's far from a "stupid" item.
